I dont know how to classify this one. :(. When i came out of the house, it was dark, foggy and snowed all over. at 7 in morning
And you rode to work through the snow over those trails with slopes and what not, yes ?

No inches down here in the plains (2-3 maybe), but enough in the mountains for me to go snowboarding this Sunday.

OP, should try this snow boarding thing.

ALERT ALERT. MALYALI ON THE SLOPES, EVERYBODY LEAVE THE TRAIL NOW !

Bringing in the new years in the mountains is quite nice.

Time to bump this old thread. :D

I'm looking to buy a bike (cycle) in US. My main use would be to make use of the spring/summer weather and cycle around the NJ waterfront or NYC. If I'm comfortable, I might even take the next step and use it for my daily office commute (about 5miles).

I don't intend to spend anything more than $150. I looked around on walmart website and saw the following:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Mongoose-Ledge-2.1-Men-s-Bike-Red/21577870 ($140)

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Granite-Peak-26-Men-s-Mountain-Bike-Black/34931885 ($80)

http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Hyper-Havoc-MTB-Men-s-Bike-Black/16531397 ($130)

Any ideas on which one is good enough for my requirements? Or any other suggestions?

And finally, is a 26" bike the correct size for me? (I'm 5' 10" and weigh 165lbs)

EDIT:

What kind of bike should I be looking to buy? MTB/Hybrid/something else?

how is this thread in the "Heath/grooming/whatever section"?

EDIT 2:
any ideas @m-jeri , @stalker, @blr_p

All those bikes are crap. At that budget look at used, or look for a new at maybe a minimum of 350-400. Anything less will be more trouble than it's worth.
