Time is Running out friends, I want to purchase and test the 3g stick in my area before committing on 4200 recharge. Looks like E122 @ Rs. 2600 on ebay is the only viable option. Grr.. no ebay coupon is also making life difficult.

Guys UMG1831 is available on ebay for 2850 and say i am able to get a discount coupon of 10% and get the same for 2565, should i go ahead with this ?

Are there serious issues with this modem or just that a batch of modems available with dvdstoredelhi has issues ?

Hi guys,

I am using Huawei E122 but it has been disconnecting every 2 hours since last night (I bought it yesterday).

Any way to solve this problem?

one thing I am not sure it is about this problem or not is that the blue light signal on the device is always showing and never blinking such a time, is it working properly?

^^ It's pure luck.

Some are working fine and some are not.

Some worked fine but later did not.

Some did not but later worked fine.

But overall E122 in much more stable than UMG1831.

Before buying confirm with the seller about replacement and warranty just to be on the safe side. Also make sure he sends a new one.

i bought my 1831 from shameer and paid 3k for the same and was not from ebay, 3G MODEM INDIA KERALA: Product. I never faced an issues. I have not used E122 hence can't comment on the same but have used 1831 14 hours on the trot daily for a month and can say its a good modem. If you end up with a faulty lot like some sellers did then that is just back luck.

OK guys.. I stay in Airoli, Navi Mumbai. I guess we have MTNL here.
Should I be going for a MTNL 3G sim ?
or BSNL 3G is available here ?
or can I can get a BSNL 3G sim from someone I know and use it here ?
or should I look for other alternatives such as airtel, reliance ?

My main purpose is to use it in mobile(Nexus S) but having unlimited plans to watch youtube vids or live cricket matches would suit me more

^^Procure the BSNL SIM from someone staying outside Mumbai, probably Pune and get all recharge etc done and then use it in Mumbai on MTNL network.

MTNL does not have any UL plans.

@suhas : I too stay in Airoli. I got my BSNL sim from Mysore and tried using here. I was getting full network of Dolphin, but due to some reason wasnt able to browse through the network here. Dont know why.

Hopefully the sim taken Pune/other place from Maharashtra should work here.

^^ I can confirm that the next weekend when i will be going to Mumbai. But i am sure i have tried this before and BSNL 3G has worked fine in Mumbai too.

I did not change any settings in my E122 nor in my N8.
use the same APN 'bsnlnet' and it should work....
You can try getting new settings since ur card is from another state.... but on pc we only set the APN and access no which is same all across the nation...
We west zone customers are for some strange reason different from all India when it comes to BSNL services :-0

Weird i use MTNL 3g and i experience downtime for atleast 3-4 random hours everyday and you say your connection works flawlessly :S
Does not matter though coz i have reliance 3g :bleh:

Bought a bsnl sim, paid 59 bucks, 120 frc and 991 recharge(BIS on 3g ultd) got 3G access through PC, via connecting through bb desktop software,but unable to use BB services when i call the lousy contact centre guy says it takes 24 hours, where as other private companies get it done instantly, i had a fear that govt companies are lazy idiots with pension secured, 1st day and im loosing my ability to check my emails from work, and yes when i try connecting through desktop i get speed upto 1.5 mbps and yes i keep getting same sms every sec " you have used 0.00 Kbytes" from +50030, really Annonying, guys have any idea how this can be fixed ? getting 1 txt per sec is really annoying,

Update : Calling BSNL CC on 1503, waiting in queue since 20 mins and no answer, wow, got to a person and says call 1909 and type destop, who said i will get a prompt and there wasnt and had to choose 1st option to register to UCC which i have no clue what it is, but anyhow did it , Wow 1st day and these many issues

My UMG1831 arrived today.

Popped the sim out of my BSNL teracom modem, inserted the sim.

inserted the UMG1831 in USB drive. laptop recognized it , installed the drivers.

autorun asked me to install the inbuilt "Mobile partner" , i installed it .

BUT NOW the software is not detecting my sim , there is no signal . it says "the device is unavailable or is disconnected" , what do i do

(i did add a new profile with bsnlnet as APN)

I have tried .

1. reinserting the modem.

2. reinserting the sim .

3. restarting the PC.

Please help.

PS:sorry , i know i am inthe wrong forum , but this thread is pitty hot and 30% of the users USE the UMG1831 here ( a guess ofcourse)

oh and i forgot that i did not uninstall the BSNL's software that came with the teracom modem.

it seems this is the problem, i am uninstalling the software now ,, will update soon.
