Shure SE215. Great Noise cancellation, And perfect for movies and they are stage monitors so u will get neutral sound with clear mids.

Check out my thread Bose Comfort 25 these are "the" best in business and are 100% fit for such use while this may be slightly above ur mentioned budget i feel they could be considered you can walk into any Bose store and actually try em out ... they cancel almost 99% humming noise inside a cabin of an aeroplane.

i also have lower end on ear solution bose oe2, this dont have active noise cancellation But would be ultra cheap and compact .enough with my sales pitch lol !!

Consider this :

1. when u do look for headphones ( not earphones .. longer flight durations might surely cause discomfort and can cause strain/swelling ) on ear ones which cover the ear will be best suited ( keep in mind quality of the ear cups matter if u have skin irritation or eczema) .
2. Their weight,
3. Noise cancellation might not come into picture since ur ear will start ignoring the ambient sounds in longer duration to a little extent.Well designed on ear solution creates a vacuum around ur ear.
4. Try not to fall for bluetooth trap, its not safe for longterm health.

suggestions,(with out ANC) ::
1.audio technica mx40 any day it beats most brands including bose for the value for money it brings
2.audio technica mx50

In your opinion considering the noise cancellation , which gives more performance ? Bose or audio technica?

Bose Quiet Comfort series has been consistently a rated Top choice.

It is higher than your budget. But headphones do last many years, if minimum care is taken when handling. Go for it, if frequent travel is undertaken. You can't go wrong with it.
