Hi
I am trying to assemble a computer and need some advice :
Computer will be used for gaming, i would liek all the new games to work decently well.
However my budget is a bit tight around INR 26,000/- without monitor{i will be buying a 22" monitor seperately a little later}
I was looking at -
CPU : Intel Q8400
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L P45 Motherboard
Graphics Card : ATI Radeon 4870 1GB
Memory : 4GB [any suggestions what make i should buy?]
Cabinet with power supply : need suggestion
HDD : 1x500GB SATA will do for now.

I am thinking on lines of the above configuration and i am overshooting my budget, do you see any place i can reduce costs with minimal performance degradation?

Thanks in advance.

An X3 720 makes sense given my budget.
What motherboard would you suggest for that? I am not looking at SLI and neither will i be overclocking.

Plz wait for 1156 socket boards to be out with proccy. Else ur system will get outdated within 2 months. Not to mention DX 11 GPU is coming out in 15 days.

If u cant wait go for an AMD config.

PU : Phenom II X 4 920 9.8k
Motherboard : Biostar 790gxb A2+/A3+
Graphics Card : ------
Memory : 4GB [any suggestions what make i should buy?]
Cabinet with power supply : CM RP 460w/ GP 650
HDD : 1x500GB SATA will do for now.

Good config, dont bother about rig getting outdated etc. This config can play all games easily on highest settings at 1680*1050

If u start waiting for next better config, u will need to wait forever

Cabinet: Depends on what range u are looking for
I would suggest CM Elite 335/Antec NX4400 and Corsair VX550 or TX650
RAM - 4GB Transcend 'p' RAMs

okay i am going to rephrase my question.
Suggest me the best possible config for Rs.25,000/-
Price does not include 22" monitor that i will buy later, hard disk, keyboard, mouse[as i already have these]
Open to both intel and amd.
Will not be overclocking(do not know how to)

Q8400 - 8700
Gigabyte GA-G31-ES2L - 2400 ( as u wont be overclocking, no need for expensive P45)
4870 512MB - 9000
http://www.techenclave.com/dealers-...-1gb-rocking-price-138748.html?highlight=4870
4GB DDR2 800 RAM - 2500
CM Elite 335 - 2100 / Antec NX4400 - 1500
VX450 ~ 4000 / VX550 ~ 5.5K

To restrict to 25K budget
E7500 - 5.9K
4850 512MB - 6.5K
VX450 ~ 4K

AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE -> 7.5k

Biostar TA785GE -> 3.2k

Corsair xms2 2x2GB -> 3k

Sapphire ATI HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 -> 9k [ minimum to game on 22" HD monitor with highest settings ]

Corsair VX450 -> 4k [ Enough to handle any single GPU ATI graphic card ]

Total = 27k

If you are sure that you won't add more than 3-4 HDDs then you can also get a CX400 for 3.2k or Sea sonic S12II 380 for 3k and save 800-1000/- . :)

Great, thanks so much guys.
I will probably see if my computer guy has all this tomorrow evening, till then i am open to more suggestions.
Also any shops/dealers in bombay that you would want to recommend, always welcome.
And once again guys, thanks so much.

Better to get the Asus M4A78 plus. has better onboard audio, more ram slot ( 2 on biostar and 2 on asus ) which is very good if you need to add more RAM in the future.

AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE

Biostar TA785GE AsusM4a78 Pro

Corsair xms2 2x2GB Kingston 2x2GB

Sapphire ATI HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 MSI ATI RAdeon 4870 1GB

Corsair VX450 -> 4k Corsair VX450 -> 4k

Samsung 2233SW

The left side was what was suggested to me, the right side is what I have opted for, due to availability etc. any thoughts?

Wondering how MSI matches up to Saphire, though MSI got 1GB memory as opposed to 512MB in Sapphire.

And Corsair is out of stock hence Kingston?
