Budget 31-40k Are Dual core laptops with an SSD good enough for general use?

Was in the market to buy a budget laptop ~40k INR. 99% of them are intel 1115g4 / AMD 3250u. Are these good enough for browsing the internet with 5-6 tabs open and MS Teams or some application of such sort running?
 
No. Just stay away from anything that is less than 4 cores. For basic home use, I would rather get an iPad with keyboard cover if budget is a constraint. For long term, you need 6 cores now (if you plan on heavy duty tasks).
 
Are 2C4T Tiger Lake processors capable of running 5-6 tabs and MS Teams? Yes. A lot of the work these days is done by GPU or dedicated hardware (in case of audio). NVMe SSD also takes some load off the CPU. And Tiger Lake dual core is as fast as many of the older quad cores. I would take 11th gen dual core over a laptop 4th gen quad core for sure.

Is is smart to buy a dual core in 2022 for 40k? Absolutely not. Work your ass off, save 10k, do whatever. Inflation means 40k is not enough for a new, latest gen laptop. Paying just 25% more will give you like 50% better performance. These dual cores are strictly meant for power efficient/thin and light netbook type designs.
