CPU/Mobo Are desktop PCs irrelevant

Nice discussion there...

hence the conclusion is that desktops are not irrelevant. The two are equally essential to their corresponding user:

When you wish for portability : Laptop
When you aren't so eager to move around: Desktop

IMO Space constraint (as mentioned about real-estate prices) does not hold such a strong balance for the Highly priced laptops :

Hi-speed laptops having heating issues and hence cannot be comfortably kept on a Lap or sometimes even on the Bed, thus demanding a nice big cooling pad to suck up battery power and also reduce portability at all times.

HTPC Desktops in minicases dont go harsh on your real-estate space, LCDs can be wall mounted and wireless keyboard mouse dont need a table space. :)

Run a two instance of Visual Studio 2005 on laptop and tell me how it is performing.

Even i do Device Driver Development for that we must run VM on our machine.

Some time just to try out various things(Linux) you need VM.

Show me any laptop having 10 hdd in it. :) just kidding.

Hence ....

Desktop - meaning a computer that sits at a Desk designed for almost anything.

Laptop - meaning a computer for your lap which is portable

The conclusion is that a Laptop is best for portability and a Desktop for business or home use.

The conclusion is that neither is better than the other at what it does best, so we have come around in a full circle in this debate:bleh:
