yes boss.....done that...the conditions arent stringent

What's your Budget? (e.g. >30K, not more than 50K etc.)

btw 40000 to 60000

What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? (e.g. web surfing/office apps/Casual Gaming)

engineering softwares(non graphic intensive), office applications, movies

What size and weight considerations do you have? (e.g. Do you want a 17" desktop replacement or you want an ultraportable 12" or something in between)

in btw!!!

Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? (e.g some would prefer to stay away from Acer or Dell)

nope

Any other considerations? (e.g Battery life; Widescreen/non-widescreen; Glossy/Matte screen etc.)

nope

if you can take it a tad above 60K, then it has to be the Dell XPS1330 :) the LED screen on the 1330 is briliiant to saythe least....

If you want something cheaper, configure the Dell1420/1520 to your liking

Then there is the Compaq DV series too, but I am something of a Dell fanboi..LOL so I usually recommend Dell (mostly coz of their excellent After Sales Service and reasonable pricing)

Hmm, Superczar suggestion for the XPS 1330 is good but for someone who plans on running Autocad it wud be a lil more practical to get a larger screen laptop like a 15.4"..

Well, u can always have the option of hooking the XPS 1330 to an external monitor but that wud be taking the 'portability' factor out of the 1330..

Just my 2 cents...

i wud suggest the dell 1520 with a 8600GT for abt 60k

or

the ACER GEMSTONE (aspire 5920G) with 8600GT for 65k odd(this pricing is tentative but most likely..was given to me by an ACER representative)

these two lappys are ur best bet..
