Yeah... That is true. People will think you are active even though you have uninstalled it.
I don't know if it's applicable to WA but FB gives you a grace period of 2 or 1 month incase you delete your account and want to come back again. Now totally under FB, they could implement this provision.
Regarding your account deletion, were you using any parallel app? I mean you can run only 1 account with 1 WA.
This is something new..

Don't think he is using dual apps as in that case both apps run independently of each other. Probably simply switching logins on the same app.

Also WA deletion is immediate as I have done so. FB and IG had the grace period when I deleted them few years back. Anyway, feels good to be FB-free at last.

You can have different accounts but can use only one at a time. You can swap whenever you like but the "cooldown" to swap increases as you swap the numbers more.

This is something which doesn't make sense.. only that account associated with that number should be deleted.
The only stupid reason coming to my mind is WA penalising you with revenge like deleting all your accounts associated with WA so next time you won't think of deleting any of your account.:smilingimp:

While WhatsApp has delayed the implementation, it is a good time to understand what the new policy is about, not from the half-true marketing discourse they will engage in now. The following article does a good job of it.

TL;DR, the new policy is to enable WA to store all chats with businesses in an unencrypted form, which is not allowed by the present policy. So all your chats with business accounts along with metadata like profile photos, statuses will be stored on Facebook servers and will be accessible by the businesses. Also, Facebook will have access to this data stored by the business and will use its data mining to determine user preferences which will then be fed to FB's ad network to suggest tailored products from that business to the user, which the user will then see as WhatsApp messages from the business and will be able to purchase using WhatsApp Pay.

So, as is typical FB, they are firing the gun from the shoulders of businesses in terms of collecting data and then dangling them the carrot of getting to know their customer better.

Most of the people for the privacy and against Facebook/Whatsapp would be happy to invest their money into these companies, if these firms can assure >20% year on year sales growth with >20% margins. Whatever they are doing/planning is means to achieve such goals.

Ultimately human beings as a species are extremely intelligently selfish, and will not care about others as long as they get benefit.

in my experiance, no use of suggesting other apps like signal, riot etc to friends, most of them just habitual to whatsapp and now inseperable.
and once people got to somthing free and popular they just cant leave it.
privacy is widespread joke in india.

this is what i was talking about..

Whatsapp is going to add a banner at the bottom of the screen explaining their privacy policy. So fine print basically.
There's more info here with screenshots : May 5 is the new deadline, they will probably plan and execute this better with PR and what not bs

What I don't understand is why regulators can't force companies to differentiate between personal and business usage through the creation of a different app. That solves all the issues essentialy. In this case, FB is simply trying to leverage the dependence of people on WA for personal communication to shove business ads and tracking down their throats.

Unfortunately, as we have seen in Australia with the news payment model, FB is simply a bully and thinks of itself as being capable of arm-twisting nations to its will.

I feel like FB is trying make WhatsApp into WeChat or QQ. Sort of all in one app with messaging.

I imagine it'll be treated like cookies for most people. They'll click "yes" and keep going without actually reading the disclaimer.
people have not transitioned enough from WhatsApp to other apps like signal or telegram. The no. of users who signed up in January for signal or telegram was high, but the active users are still very low.

people has started accepting WhatsApp for what it is and couldn’t move to other apps.

Whatsapp is going to start allowing people to destroy their messages after one day. All I can think is why it's not a user chosen timeline to start with.
The messages are never really deleted though, always marked as such. This is the reason third-party clients allowed deleted messages to be recovered, as delivered messages are still retained in the local DB.

Again, WA is simply adding largely cosmetic features to keep people hooked like FB uses Instagram to copy just about every trending photo app. The idea again is that people will be too lazy or invested to migrate.
