I would wager it would support FAT/FAT32. On the Linux side, EXT2/3 and XFS etc should be supported as well. NTFS, well, if they have added the module then yes, but don't hope for it now.
Thanks Vivek. I have already looked up both of the above. They do not tell what exact file system formats the device supports. I have a WD My Book 6 TB which seems to exFAT. Basically I just want to store all my media in the external drive connected to the router and access it from various devices at home (Shield TV, Fire TV Stick, Laptops etc).
I doubt exFAT would be supported. Check if a pen drive with the formats are supported and then move to a higher capacity drive to check if it supports a larger FS
