Someone else's Aadhar linked to my number

Mostly harmless.
Adept
So I have 2 phone numbers X and Y - X has my own Aadhar linked to it, and it seems someone else has linked my second phone number Y to their Aadhar. Just today, I received an OTP for Aadhar, I did not recognize the last digits of the Aadhar mentioned.

What can I do to get my number unlinked from this Aadhar number? Failing that, what is the possible impact of this unauthorized linkage?

For starters, walk in to a nearest sim provider store (a proper Airtel/Jio store and not one of those mom and pop mobile shops) and tell them the issue. Request them to de-link all Aadhaar numbers associated with your number and do a fresh KYC with your own details (the sim is on your name so they should be able to verify you again with ease). If that doesn't work, try lodging a complaint here (you may have to call/email them)

IDK if any of this will work but you should be able to figure out the next steps from here.

Have you bought this number recently?
Its possible someone may be using this same number ,linked their aadhar but forgot about recharging and it lapsed .
After some time, providers give the same number to other customers.
This is the only scenario i can think about.

I guess it won't be possible for them to link it successfully because they won't have the OTP.

They might have entered their number incorrectly and would have corrected it after they realised that OTP is not coming.

No I think awestorrs guess is correct, that it was linked before I bought it. I checked message history and I received an SMS about Aadhar as early as feb this year, so the otp was not for linking. I wiped my phone in Jan so might have received other sms before that also, wouldn't know.

Question is now how do I go about getting this unlinked?

In that case, his kYC should have taken care of delinking

Someone has opened a verified post office savings account on my number an I keep getting smses regarding credit/debit.
When I tried contacting India post office 011- delhi no. they say your waiting queue is 48, 37, etc.
I'm now wondering, without otps how can someone register someones phone no.

@blr_p Recently, there are allegations that in some cities within India, manipulations on aadhar is happening.
Heard this from a politician discussing about crimes done by illegal Bangladeshis staying for work in India, how they get aadhar card through manipulation, etc.
There are troubles which people should be careful about, and do their best to protect their aadhar data.

And also be aware of the otp scams happening again.
I have heard from atleast 2 of my friends who got calls asking for otp because the scammer "put 1 digit by mistake and it's a long process to correct it, which could be avoided by just telling the otp"
So yeah, be aware guys

How did you resolve it?
This happens all the time. No need to do anything. The original Aadhaar owner will link his/her new number to his Aaadhaar, and yours will get delinked automatically.

Nowadays, Aaaaadhaaaaar has to be linked from an Aaaaaadhaaaaar centers. Some time ago, it was possible to re-link a new number by just using an OTP. My Aaaaaaadhaaaaaar linked mobile expired because I didn't recharge it. I called the guy who received my old number and asked him to give me OTP to transfer Aaaaaaaadhaaaaaaar link.

@lockhrt999 pure luck that other guy was so co-operative. These days, most people will be quite cautious.
Its not about money though its serious concern, if some nefarious activity, crime, etc. happened and the culprit was using your uuid, it will be a problem.
