Re: Need help:Upgrading rig after 4 years

Let me wait and see the suggestions made by other folks, and will discuss this during our meet next week :bleh:

But one thing - hold on to your 4850 for a few more months, prices of ATi 5 series is not at its best now, with a little shake up by Nvidia in the months ahead, i expect 5850 to hit a sweet pricing soon and get that card :)

Processor - AthlonII X4 620 - 5.4k
Mobo -Gigabyte 785GMT-UD2H - 5.4k
RAM- Transcend 2x2gb DDR3 1333 - 5.4k
Mon-Dell S2409W - 12.5k
PSU - Corsair vx550-5.7k
Total- 34.4k :) :hap2:

Processor: AMD PhenomII 925BE - 7.7k

Motherboard: Gigabyte 785GMT-UD2H - 5.5k

RAM: GSkill 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333MHz - 5.8k

Monitor: Dell S2409W - 12.5k

SMPS: Corsair VX 550W - 5.8k

Total: 37.5k.

If on a tight budget go for the Dell S2209W~ 9k so that the cost is down to 34k. Hold on to your GPU for some more time say 3-4 months so that the prices of 5xxx cards comes down.

Not really much of a gain in going for DX11 now as you have a decent card already

For God's sake take some time to read the OP's thread before jumping into giving suggestions after reading the budget

If you dont have the time to read what OP wants dont reply something irrelevant in the thread(Just to increase the post count or something)

Thanks Guys for your replies....i've open'ed this thread on behalf of ma cousin.....this'll help him in his buy....

The Psu part it was VX450 not Vx550.....Or does it make sense going for vx550 now and 5850 later???? and core i3 @113$ seems to be sensible option too, please throw some light on this too

As you are gonna use it for photo shop and editing purposes etc its better to go for a actual quad core. The PhenomII 925 is pretty decent quad. if on a strict budget then go for the AthlonII x4 620~5K.
