@linuxtechie, got it for 47500, through someone I know. No plans for the lens rite now.. but will definitely upgrade once I get a bit better at photography :p

Congrats! I'd say its pretty overpriced though for a rebel body and kit lens. I got my 40D last year for 43 odd.
 
Whoa! Congrats mayte!

I've used the 500D quite frequently now - we have a D40x, a 500D and my A300 in the house! :)

I love the 920,000 dot screen on this one. And the new 15MP CMOS sensor continues to impress with its high ISO characteristics - easily the best in the house (not that the 10MP sensor in the D40x and A300 is a great one :D)!

CONGRATS again! Lets the photos do the talking now!
