Yeah Its dud one, considering the fact that we live in the age of Quad Cores.
Anyway here is this poser.
My colleague has these spares lying around,
Proc:
P4 516 - 2.93Ghz/ 533/1Mb
P4 530 - 3.00Ghz/ 800/1Mb
Motherboard:
ASUS P5GC-MX
Ram:
Transcend 512Mb DDR2 533 4-4-4 X 2
HDD:
Seagate 160Gb SATA
Intended purpose:
Basic Computer Purposes = Ms Office + Internet + Networking on Win XP SP2
For Free Training/Teaching for kids.
Conditions:
The computer is going to run in thatched shed in a place which is notoriously hot. So no AC or coolers.
(1) Should not run hot. Better yet the less hotter the better
We are planning to replace the stock coolers with the Coolermaster OEM version from the GO in TE by buygamingstuff .
(2) Can we underclock them to reduce the temps & voltage. If so how to go ahead.
Since both of them are 90nm & has the history of being a Prescott.
This is the main problem other than the bus speeds & other things
Which Processor would you choose ?
Please help us out.
Many's options are better than one. Else its going to be " Flip of a Coin ".
