I remember seeing this movie a long time ago on cable tv.
It's about a poor muslim elephant keeper(mahoot) from a village in maharashtra. He is a village guy and shows extreme signs of sadness, anxiety and inferiority during his time away from his village. Due to development of villages to towns to cities, his profession is no longer viable and hence he is forced to sell his family elephant. He rides his elephant and sets travel to a destination(an elephant market) in north india to sell the animal. In the market, the negotiations keep failing as the elephant is very old. Some try to trick him. While sleeping beside his elephant near some river in north india, he has a change of heart and returns back to his village in maharashtra along with his elephant. The movie ends with uncertainty wrt the guy and his family's future.
The movie almost resembles a documentary and has no background score.
