Monster Interlink Light Speed 400 Optical Cable 1 m Review ...

I bought a Monster Interlink Light Speed 400 Optical Cable 1 meter long from a local retailer. I needed a SPDIF cable for Asus O!Play Gallery because it has issues with HDMI RAW pass through to Sony HT-M5 AVR even after the latest update. O!Play does not automatically engage HDMI RAW Passthrough after i switch it on and i have to take out the cable and put it back in to get it to work.

SIDE NOTE- I can confirm that O!Play strips Dolby TrueHD to normal/core DD and sends it via HDMI "Proof is my reciver says DD and not TrueHD when the signal starts".

HDMI and SPDIF is pretty much the same for DD/DTS core since i will be using RAW format. Other than this i can use HDMI LPCM which is not at all as clear as i get from PC to HDMI interlink so that would mean O!Play lacks good LPCM decoder but it may as well be the AVR's fault.

After surfing around for a good sturdy SPDIF cable because O!Play will be moved around i came across two one was a Sony SPDIF cable all white and it was for Rs.2300 after discount and i found a Monster 400DFO which was for Rs.3050 after discount, the original price was marked at Rs.4000!!!

I bought the Monster cable since i have heard a lot about the company and wanted to own a cable, i wanted a steel cap cable with a very durable plug and this fit the bill.

The box is very hard to get open i had to rip it apart and in the process totally destroyed the packaging.

The black grip is made from a rubber matted material with wavy design for better grip, just above that is the lable with purple background and white text. There is a small gap between the grip and lable its really not all that visible in the picture because of the angle.

1m is too small i should have bought 2m but that would have added quite a bit to the price ohh well.

Its a go, Sony HT-M5 recognized the optical connection automatically

In the end of it all its a good cable its sturdy and there are no jitters at all i mean non what so ever. Even HDMI gets jitters with Tatasky sometimes with but with this SPDIF its pretty much stable and i am impressed i might as well get another cheaper SPDIF cable for Tatasky+. The truth is that since HDMI is relitively new it has some issues with some products and SPDIF is the only alternative for digital pass through instead of HDMI which was the only possibly choice for my case.
