Audio Logitech Z506 5.1 speakers + Retina MacBook Pro

I'm thinking of buying the Logitech Z506 speakers for my Macbook Pro (Retina). Is there any way to get TRUE 5.1 surround sound? I'm ready to purchase an external sound card, if needed. Please help me out here!

You wont get that quality of sorround sound in the logitech package. You'll have to go a bit higher with your budget, and maybe get a edifier da5500.
But if you are constraint to buying the logitech only, you'll have to set it up nicely, and either way you will need a sound card. You can look at creative's usb card which is 5.1 card. Or look at other 5.1 cards

Yes it will, setup the drivers properly and you'll have a blast.

Getting a good 5.1 usb card for 2.5k is tough, have linked something search ebay for the second option.

Check in dx.com there this 5.1 card for 14usd. Or you can check for a used asus or creative usb card. Or you can get a pci to usb adaptor and buy a normal sound card like asus dg.

Any DAC with 2 channel output support by latest OSx - Problem only to those Analog 5.1 output....they need specialized driver / firmware to function.
