These would be my preferred specs. planning to buy a lappy either next month or the month after that (depending on when haswell mobile parts come to India and are available.)
This is what I would be looking for :-
Intel Haswell 2 core chip
Intel GT2 Graphics chip (onchip) or AMD Radeon onboard
4-8 GB DDR3
1 TB 7200 rpm (single platter) HDD
Budget :- around 55k
Brand :- HP, Sony or/and Lenovo in the Thinkpad category.
I'm not so much for looks as for performance so matte is cool.
What I would be using it for :-
It would be mostly be used for playing on and with Debian for doing everything a normal user does :-
1. Watching movies
2. Playing games (should be able to play the upcoming SDL2 and anything after OpenGL4.2 would be nice.)
3. Doing casual c programs compilations (as well as other languages) .
If anybody has recently bought a laptop with some of the objectives as above it would be nice to hear from them. People using Ubuntu are also welcome but people using it for Debian are much more preferred. If people have reviewed the lappies on Debian or Ubuntu then feel free to share those links as well.
