IE7 vista problem !

after i destroyed my linux partition, i decided to use vista for a while. everything is fine except now i just cant DOWNLOAD ANY FILE from the internet. That is, whenever i download a file, the download screen appears and it just sticks there, actual downloading doesnt start at all.(no data transfer) And after sometime I get a stupid msg saying IE cannot download the file etc. I've tried this with many different files,even a file on sify's local network and i get the same msg. I'vetried relaxing security setting in Internet Options and allowed File sharing in Network Properties but no use.

All webpages work fine,open fast. But no downloads

I cant even switch browsers as i dont have any vista compatible browser on disk

Make sure popup blocker is not blocking the download.

Try IE in safe mode. Programs>accessories>system tools>IE in safe mode.

I tried IE No-Addons but again the same problem....nothing downloads

one more query..is it possible to get indian stock market quotes on the sidebar widget for stocks ?
