Has the 21mbps modem gone EOL ?.everywhere the price is jacked up. The dealer selling it for 2450 last week is quoting 3k. :mad:

No stock with dvdstoredelhi= everyone on ebay increases the prices of modems :)

BTW,i got a steal deal from a fellow TE member, so my search for 21 mbps modem has come to an end :D

I think there is a deficiency of stock to demand which has caused the rise in prices.
If the modem will not be available in future then why not try for those 42mbps modem etc.?
I Am ready to wait as long as i get a reasonable deal out of it.
Because as it is i am getting satisfactory speeds on my nokia C5. :D

^not seen yet but if Umg 1831 is not gonna be available immediately why not not ask our TE dealer to get it for us?

Hello.. My friend and I went to this local vendor who had a single piece of E122, hundreds of E173 and E153 in stock. We got an E173 and an E122.. and i can tell that the signal reception of E122 is a little better than that of E173.
However, I cannot make voice/video calls with E122 while he can with his E173.
Is there a firmware for E122 which allows voice calls?
Oh yeah.. We got both for 4600 (2300 per piece)..

So,E173 is not good though it support voice call ?

Went to RWorld yesterday,they told that Rim Huawei E173 Available @2599/- with Rim postpaid.....

I'm from New Delhi.. E173 is indeed good. However, as i said before, where my MDMA app would show an RSSI of -81dBM(signal quality) it would show -85 on the E173 and where it would show -79 on the E122 it would still show -83 on the E173 (+-2).

So the signal reception on the E173 is not bad.. My E1550 used to get the same signal as the E173 but this E122 has a better antenna i guess..

However, it DOES NOT support voice calls! (so I'm thinking of returning it and getting an E173 in exchange)

Here's what I get with airtel 3G on my E122 in Noida.

If I don't get any other option then I'm thinking to get E173 from RWorld.

Modem are very hard to find locally.

Cos here in Kolkata 3G is not so popular like other city.....

^ Yes you could do that. I've made up my mind to either sell off my E122(any takers for an E122? - 2 days old :p) or get it exchanged for an E173(looks more elegant in white). You could get an unbranded version on ebay.in.. Or get it shipped from here only.. Locally the lowest quote I could find was 2300. dvdstoredelhi was/is shipping it for 2025. Try and ask him if you can buy it from him.

PS - I dont think Reliance will sell you the modem only. You may have to buy a connection along with a data plan so it will ultimately cost you more than buying it from ebay.

^ Hey Revolution, Just get a E173 from ebay man.It costs 2290/- only. You can always pay via paisapay.There is no use in waiting for 21,28 mbps modems as no ISP will provide those speeds along with UL (good data amount) plans.Thus you will end up with paltry 2GB or may be 10GB plans and 7.2mbps is good enough to make use of the 2-10GB data limit.I dont understand this fetish for 21-28mbps :S when in the present scenario of no proper UL plans it makes no sense.I am not saying that the ISP's wont implement higher speeds, I am just making a point that their plans(read data limits) will suck to the core.

So just get something now, anything, and when "if" in the future (yeah that future does not exist) ISP's get enlightened and give us good plans then you get yourself a new higher speed modem.Its not like companies will run out of 3g modem resource :rofl:

But,dvdstoredelhi quoted 2K for E173.That's why I asked him for last time if not I have to get it from ebay...:(

Ebay price always higher without any coupon.....
