Hide extensions for known file types not working

I am using WinXP.
I have unchecked the option "Hide extensions for known file types". However, as soon as I open Win Explorer again, it resets itself automatically and the box gets checked.
Same problem with "Hide operating system files" box and also "Show hidden and system files"
I have checked for viruses and spamware...

Its really annoying plz help :huh:

may be u can use powertoys and see it that helps.

I think there is some script which resets everything at startup in your case.

ita a virus or a worm.......its quite popular.........use a good antivirus software to scan it out........

can u provide a list of programs that auto starts when u boot windows? also mention all the system tray icons

Problem solved Guys . Found some .exe file over the net which did the work for me.

try msconfig under run to check if any malware is autoloading wen ur system starts. this is surely a malware
