CPU/Mobo Help with AMD X2 config

A dealer has offered me the foll. for 17.5k
AMD X2 3600+ , ASUS M2N-MX and 1 gb Transcend/TwinMos

Is this a good deal?

No its an ok deal i think you could get the above at around 15k if not less......

Spend a bit more and get this... Way better value for money

Core 2 Duo E6300 - 8800 bucks

P5LD2-VM-SE - 4500 bucks

1GB Transcend DDR2 533 - 5200 bucks.

P5LD2-VM-SE is Intel 945G based. Is there a considerable performance difference between the 945 and the 965 chipsets. What abt nforce based motherboards; are they recommended in general keeping price and perf in mind when compared to intel?

Hmm 945 and 965 chipsets there is some performance diff, yet havent seen anywhere the quantum.

or if u can spend 2k more and get the MSI Neo P965 fro around 6-6.5k(dunno the exact price) or preferably a Gigabyte 965-S3 at around 7-8k

ASUS M2NPV-MX - Rs. 4k (approx)
Transcend 1 GB RAM - Rs. 5k (approx)

So total: Around 14.8k

The only reason to go in for AM2 would be if you want a bare minimum config. I just picked up the M2NMX with 3000+ for 7.5k for a friend, last week at SMC in Delhi.
