To all those who've been using 27" 1440p displays, How far do you sit from your monitor? I ask because my 22"1080p monitor has been acting up and i've to replace it soon . I am torn between 24" 1080p and 27" 1440p . The problem is, i sit just at an arms length from my monitor and wonder if i will regret buying anything bigger than 24.
Don't usually see people buying a 22" 1080p but it has a ppi of 100.13 while 27" 1440p has a ppi of 108.79
The 27" 1440p will be sharper than the 22" 1080p at any reasonable distance given the higher ppi. Arms length will be fine but too far and the UI & text might be too small.
Things you
should consider when going to 1440p though is the increased performance cost of games, UI being sharper but smaller and finally, if you watch a lot of movies/shows on the monitor it won't look as sharp given that all movies and shows release in 1080p or 4k, both of which do not divided neatly into 1440p. (colors and contrast could be better on the new monitor so the overall image quality might still be a net positive depending on your current display)
I got used to the slightly blurrier movies after a week or so but comparing them side by side (old 24" 1080p to 27" 1440p) the 1080p is much sharper. 4k will probably get the 1440p much closer given the larger screen size but I didn't care enough to test it.
