Any startup is great initially as they have VC money to burn and the customer base is small. It is bound to get worse over time, especially in India due to the mentality of the buyers to cheat the retailer if they can. They have to be very specific about what benefits to provide to whom based on purchase history. Amazon still does it as I have been repeatedly able to return or keep non-returnable items till date. Flipkart seems to be least bothered to set up better analytics and they come up with such blanket policies like open-box or banning pin codes, which is quite anti-consumer.

In the western countries, there are 30-day return policies for almost everything and they don't even bother with the condition of the product at the time of the return because people are generally honest and the return costs are quite small compared to general sales. In India, pilfering and duplicate returns would be a good proportion of the retailer's losses because of which they have to be stricter. I have friends in the developed countries who have been reporting fake non-deliveries and returning items after using them for a month on Amazon since they moved there, so I don't suppose the goodwill will last in those countries either.
Exactly my point with Amazon, not that they are saints but they at least check my purchase history and go from there. Flipkart doesn't care about your purchase history and a lot of that has to do with the seeds sown at the beginning; they don't know how retail works or how retail business works in general. Take my example, My spend on amazon has doubled while spends on Flipkart has almost reduced to zero (from 3-4L yearly to almost zero just cuz they gave me a bad taste ragarding a 14k item). I would buy 4-5 smartphones for relatives and family almost every year, that's all gone now (I am more than happy to pay extra on amazon), I also have axis flipkart credit card with 15000 cashback (that's about 3L spends on that card alone). The card is getting closed too. And to people who say that Amazon has a lot of money, you think Walmart is poor??? It's the biggest retailer in the world followed by Amazon.

They are only good for launching mid range smarphones with 1000-1500 discounts and even that seems fake at this point other than that I wouldn't buy sh*t from them.

Not sure why flipkart keeps lying like this. "Lowest price since launch", I saw it going for less than Rs 5100 just yesterday. Should be illegal.

Flipkart does give refunds (partial) and/or try to get the product serviced under warranty if the local distributor/service center does not honour the full warranty period from the date of purchase because of the unit being old stock. BUT YMMV and you might have to get on multiple call with Flipkart to get it sorted.
Things have changed in last few months, now fk will only offer a return of the product & refund.

Received DOA Ram from flipkart, it says not returnable what to do? its Gskill
Call them and raise a complaint as early as possible. Say that it’s completely DOA etc and you’ve tested it properly with multiple PCs. They should be able to refund/replace. I’ve had more expensive non-returnable tech items refunded earlier with FK

That's good to know.

Things are not as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, Flipkart is not great, but as a part of OBD, they clearly say that you're supposed to verify physical damage and correct product. You can raise return/replacement request for other issues.

For playstation or the SSD I ordered recently, the checks didn't include the device turning on. So if the device is DoA, I could raise a replacement request.

But if the deal is too good then there is always a risk of not getting replacement & instead getting refund. In that case it is a better option to instead get the brand new replacement from brand service centre itself if possible.

Just.logged a ticket with Flipkart support bought Intel Processor and Asus motherboard from them. The Asus motherboard does not have serial no mentioned in the invoice due to which Asus is not honouring the warranty on motherboard. Had reached out to them to update the warranty from purchase date.

The motherboard board invoice just has a FSN no.
Checked the processor invoice has product code motioned on it . Asked.them to correct that also.now.

Is it like that for others too.

couple of months back gone through this :(

Bought Dell HDMI 2.1 dock from them, they delivered two year old product and its a open box delivery.. box itself very old/dirty, but product inside was all fine new. And there was no invoice in the box, usually it will be downloadable after product delivered. When i checked DELL warranty, it shown only one year left out of three years and Dell asked invoice to update the warranty period. Flipkart invoice did not have any serial number and as expected dell did not accept it. I could have ordered from Dell itself, both were same cost.. just that flipkart had next day delivery and dell had three week delivery, so went with flipkart.

Initially i asked flipkart to provide me a invoice with serial number, but they said its not possible and return also not possible due to openbox delivery.

flipkart reply was, product page does not mention about manufacturer warranty, so invoice cannot be reason for the return and kept rejecting it. Reported in different online escalation channels like pgportal, consumer forum... everywhere they closed it saying same response.. Now a days, these pgportal and all becoming useless :( Finally found a mail to flipkart escalation channel itself, they responded +ve.

They took another week trying to get the invoice updated with serial number, but in the end, they said to return the product as their system not allowing to update the serial number... :(

In hindsight, first time itself i should have raised return request saying product did not work Or edited the invoice pdf by adding serial number :D

Anyways lessons learnt!

Flipkart will never issue a modified invoice, whatever you get the first time is final because their system itself is not designed to modify/issue a new invoice.
They took another week trying to get the invoice updated with serial number, but in the end, they said to return the product as their system not allowing to update the serial number... :(
Flipkart invoices of typical pc components rarely have serial no. mentioned on them but that is not an issue for many brands, the bigger issue is if difference between manufacturing date & invoice date is large (say around 1 year or more) then many brands will deny warranty from invoice date & will consider it only from manufacturing date (can confirm for zotac & asrock).

Doesn't work for the above case of large difference between mfg & invoice date & where it does work (like that samsung ssd) then most likely you wouldn't be needing serial no. in invoice in the first place for that brand/product anyway.

Can anyone else who has bought any processor or motherboard from Flipkart recently check their invoice if they are also in a similar manner. The warranty on their site is showing till Jan 2027. While it should be till May first week.

Can't say for sure for processor/mobo now but yes they should be in similar manner from my experience of mobo purchase from flipkart a few months back. Flipkart does not provide serial no. in invoice for pc components & even on amazon stuff like ram is sold without serial no. in invoice but that's standard practice for ram at least it seems. You also don't really need serial no. in invoice at least for processors I think as long as you have any genuine receipt & the original box+fan.
