DigiTimes is reporting that NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 will launch mid-November, making it the world's first DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor. Those of you that might have missed it, we posted G80 spy pics on Friday that are definitely a must see.

Nvidia is expected to announce the world's first DirectX 10-compliant graphics chip, the GeForce 8800 (codenamed G80), in the middle of November, graphics card makers revealed. However, despite the advantage of early launch, demand for the new graphics processing unit (GPU) will depend on penetration rate of the new Windows Vista OS and availability of new PC games supporting DirectX 10, the makers indicated.

^^Not to mention the benefits, if any right now. Add in the cost of a mobo with three pcie slots and its simply too expensive

Right, and besides, Physics technology is in an infancy stage... it needs to mature and that will take time, so it's better to wait another year or so before considering a card for Physics. By then, games will also be released to take advantage of this technology.
