This is not funny. i7 920 @ 3.8 Ghz consumes 371 W at full load! Ofcourse this reading is the wall power draw but you need atleast 450W on +12V.

My VX450 is going to be useless if I want to upgrade to ci7.

The first 2 are overclocked!!!

Doesn't make sense overclocking such a hgh-end spec on a vx450 does it??

You haven't mentioned the other specs of the test system.

You can run ANY single gpu solution on the planet with the VX450. You can overclock all you want, it still wont budge.

But these results are astounding. 371W power draw is insane. Mind you the VX450 will be able to power an overclocked ci7 as well(it has 33A on +12V alone, some 396W).

For test system specs :- Legion Hardware.

Hey guys, I had posted on another thread about getting an i7 rig. I have a CoolerMaster 600W extreme series PSU. Will it be able to support the i7 rig without OC'ing?

Yeah it would but not suggested since it has a very low efficiency and doesn't deliver the rated power either. All in all its one of the most hated PSUs in the forums. (Some members have lost some system components thanx to this supply!)

Give it to some scrap dealer and get yourself a good PSU like the Antec Earthwatts 650, Corsair HX620/TX650. :)
