Hi guys iam finally thinking of getting rid of my Core 2 duo.Now i am looking to buy

AMD Phenom X2 550BE (the one that unlocks)

Biostar TA790GX128 or TA785GX128

Budget will be around 10K

Do you guys think should i go for this or buy a AMD Phenom X4 620

Pls suggest........................ :)

It depends on wat u do with ur comp... 640 lacks L3 cache... its a big drawback...

Gaming will be better in PII 550..

If we talk about unlocking and overclocking, well then I think the 550BE is the better deal since its gonna have 4 cores (assuming all 2 was unlocked), an L3 and an unlocked multiplier.

Does the AMD X2 550 Batch no. 0929 unlock using Biostar TA790GX 128 mobo ?????????? cuz i cant find anywhere 0922 batch.Could u guys tell where to find that batch

chances for 0929 batch seems dim. 0919, 0923, 0925 have a better chance.Same here in hyd, guys sell it at a higher price.

I cant even find the batch that you are telling.Seems like a hard chance to find unlocking batch anymore

Damn,it is illegal to sell the proccy at high price though

Do 0915 batch unlock with biostar mobo?

It's just luck. Get one and hope it unlocks. If you are a casual gamer, perhaps Athlon x4 620 would be a better choice. No need to worry about unlocking. Just get a decent cpu cooler, overclock it and it will give you decent performance. I am myself planning to get one . Just waiting to see whether C3 stepping is around the corner :).

Just because one processor of a particular batch unlocked doesnt mean all the processors of that batch would unlock. If you are lucky, your processor too might unlock.

For now 550 is a better option to the quadcore simply because of the more memory in 550, btw do google if the quadcore L3 cache can be unlocked, then this would be a steal.

I’d say go for the Athlon II X4 620 because though it lacks the L3 cache, more cores is always better. There are people saying that higher clocked lower core processor performs better but the day is not far when games optimized to take advantage of multi-cores.

i think its better to pay extra for a 0922 batch. try to haggle if he comes down to 6k then its a good deal.

Hello in my opinion go with AMD Phenom X2 550BE ,if ur lucky to unlock other 4 cores its the best deal. Regarding AMD Phenom X4 620 ,There is not really much benefit, coz not all the applications or Games utilize all 4 cores ,so not much use of a Quad Core on running applications or games.Its Better to get X2 550BE than a X4 620.It Depends to what use will u put ur new rig to. Games ,Applications ,or Video editing or General Stuff .
