Hi all,
What means for these 2 drivers (AHCI,RAID) came with biostar mobo?
How to install these drivers? I m unable to install despite of too many attemppts.(Lot of times i had to restore my pcto previous state)
My sata HDD is detected as ide. Pls help throw some light it may help lot of noobs like me.

ahci drivers not needed if u install vista, ubuntu.

they are only needed when

1. u set ur sata drives to be treated as ahci in the bios

2. u are installing xp

now u need to do that dreaded f6 install.

since u said that ur sata is detected as ide , it means u must change it to ahci in bios if u want to take advantage of sata standard(such as ncq)

note if u already had os on that drive then u will need to reinstall os.

for raid u need to set sata drives as raid and make a raid cluster in bios.

u dont need raid drivers unless u want raid in ur system

^^So if we are installing OS (WinXP) from scratch, then will it be better to install the HDD with AHCI drivers in AHCI mode or no drivers in IDE mode?
Will AHCI and NCQ increase overall performance as compared to IDE mode

ahci mode is always better .
allows ncq implementation.

quite rightly said but NCQ is helpful for server installations only where multiple write/ read requests are coming up at the same time; under normal conditions it will slow up a bit if you activate NCQ for a single user due to NCQ overheads.
