Product Name, Manufacturers code & URL: 15" Apple MacBook Pro Mid 2010 Model (Logic board and Optical Drive not working) - 2.4Ghz model Specs: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications
  • Expected Price: Rs 15000 (Open for reasonable negotiations)
  • Source and Time of Purchase: Bought from Apple in May 2010
  • Reason for Sale: Switched to Microsoft Surface Pro
  • Product Condition: Good Condition (Logic Board and Optical Drive is not working) Logic board can easily be repaired and the optical drive can be replaced. If not Apple can replace the logic board too but it will be expensive. Battery is in a very good condition as it was replaced by Apple when Apple Care Protection pack was still there. Unfortunately once the APP expired, these problems cropped up. I didn't bother with it and it has been collecting dust since last 8 months.

  • Company official Indian warranty valid/Remaining Warranty period: 0
  • Accessories Included: Charger, Case Logic sleeve, manual, discs etc.

Hi,

Do you know the exact problem and what was reason for board failure?

Do you know the cheapest logic board form apple service center.. not reliance(they claim to be apple authorized) will be 28 k +

So my 2cents.. sell it for parts or repair it and then sell it..

Yes! The exact reason was that my helper decided to spill cough syrup which went inside the machine through the heat vents. My laptop was sitting on the bed and she placed the cough syrup bottle on the bed while cleaning the side table of my bed. The bottle fell and since the cap was loose, it went inside. This is the reason why the Optical drive conked off too. All other parts work flawlessly as they were checked by Apple.

The logic board can be replaced by Apple. They have assured me of this. It will cost 32-33K to get it replaced from them. It can also be repaired by third party at chip level. It was shown to someone in Delhi when I had gone for a wedding. Unfortunately I was there for just a few days and couldn't get it done.
