I have 2 PC connected with cross(CAT5 cable) LAN connection.

PC1 got Windows XP and PC2 got Windows 7.

Both PC showin at PC1 XP network place.

PC1 can download everything from PC2 Win7 but if share something it will not showing on PC2(Win7)

No PC showing at WIn7 PC2 at network place.

But,every shared folder shown at XP PC1.

Anything can I do to solve this ?

I have tried to diable and re enable search for new network at Win7 but nothing happen.

File sharing and all enabled? That would be step one. Next, did you try to directly access the PC? like \\IP_address_of_XP_machines\

Finally, on Win7 make the location type of the network 'Home' OR 'Work' if it is in Public! Though this would have already been done, IMO.

best solution it : go to run >> type //<ip of the xp machine>

this helped by, when i had the same problem

I have ping both PC from both side.

Its pinging OK.

Both PC under 'WORKGROUP'.

I have didable pass rotected sharing.

Should I enable this ?

Tried Win7 trouble shooter to fix this but that did not work too.

After lot of fustration finally I installed Win7 on other PC too.

Now share working almost OK.

Make IP4 setting as following :

PC1

192.168.1.X

255.255255.0

192.168.1.1

PC2

192.168.1.Y

255.255255.0

192.168.1.1

Both DNS empty

But,it showing 'Unundentified Network' public.

I want to make it "Workgroup'.

My usb data card net showing Public Network.

I want to make digfferent setting for both network thats why want to make that Workgroup and the internet as Public.

Is that possible ?

May be my data will shown on net as both r Public Network at same time ?

Thanks for reply!

So,u mean 'Unidentified Public' is safer than Workgroup or Home ?

But,I don't know which setting should I chose for Public Netwok.

I got just got 2 PC connected with cross Cat5 cable and both got net using data card usb modems.

I use some file sharing and play some co-op LAN game with my bro sometime.

No,printer or internet sharing or anything.
