If it gets scuttled by the opposition the blame for any future breaches will shift from the govt towards them

If it does pass then we can work on two other outstanding bills of privacy & cyber security.

The argument is going to be over the fines. The penalties are quite high.
 
Not make money for the govt but it could put a serious dent in the finances of any Indian company. Law won't distinguish between revenue companies make

Because it's pretty difficult to do, we took time to see how others were doing it. What worked and what did not

The first bill was withdrawn this is the second attempt.

Will the opposition let it through?

as per the Indian Express report, one of the changes to the bill includes its treatment of cross-border data flows. The draft bill could allow cross-border data flows to all international jurisdictions, except the countries placed in the “negative” or “official blacklist”.

Another concern is that the bill does not include a provision for compensation to affected data principals in case of a data breach. The government official said the bill leaves this to the judiciary.“The affected party can take the data fiduciary to civil court for any breach or misuse of data,” the official told ThePrint.

The part where they want to fine private companies and individuals? I wonder why they don't want to fine govt officials for misuse of data. Our Govt is still thinking like British and making one sided laws to benefit them. I wonder if we truly got independence or the British just gave up seeing they had like minded individuals in power.
