Right now, I mean right this moment, right now, Apple does not sell data to agencies and governments. I am not sure why some people get all hyper on rumours that some are doing for click-bait and views. Coming to these ads in App Store, do you know how many times we all open App Store in a week? Compare that to how many times we open a browser or social media app. Personalised ads in App Store is okay as I do not have to go through thousands of games to know if there is a game that suits my taste. This is okay as long as the data collected is strictly used for recommendations within the store. What I do not want is to take my data and give it to agencies and governments so that they can spam me with calls/ads/messages. I hope you understand the difference between these two. Companies like Samsung and Xiaomi went too far with ads and they had to dial it down. One cannot put Lock Screen and notification bar ads and get away with it. About 7-8 years ago, there was this launcher (forgot its name). UI was amazing and animations were great. It got traction but then it died. Reason is that they started pushing ads in notification bar and some of these ads were borderline-porn. We reviewed it and put it in the review that ads are main negative. They asked us to remove that -ve from review and we did not budge. That launcher died a very sad death. This is what greed is. Even nova launcher collects certain data but it never resorted to this level of privacy breach and they are still alive and kicking. In what world are you living? Ads were there in iOS for years. The different now is that we can block tracking. Ads come at same place even now but they are just random and generic. I see more lingerie ads now than ever because ’my data’ is not shared.
