I have a dedicated windows 2003 server located at the DataCenter. I have registered a nameserver ns1.mynameserver.com and also my domain Domain Names, Shared Web Hosting and Site Design Tools - MyDomain.
The DNS service is installed on the server. The server is not a domain controller, it is configured as workgroup computer.
In the DNS admin window, on the server, what should the configuration be to make things working?
I tried a forward lookup zone entry as mydomain.com with SOA as ns1.mynameserver.com. Added a A record as Domain Names, Shared Web Hosting and Site Design Tools - MyDomain. Yet I am not able to resolve and open up the website. My IIS seems to be configured correctly.
By any chance, does my workgroup name have to be ns1 or something? Do I need Active Directory?
Thanks
