Enabling 64-bit Farcry patch content on 32-bit

This is a bit of old news but posting it just in case someone hasn't tried it yet or doesn't know about it.

Download

farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe - 486 MB

farcry_amd64_ecu.exe - 422 MB

from

after downloading the patches do this

Download both packages:

farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe

and

farcry_amd64_ecu.exe

and from cmd install them on your 32bit OS with

farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe /a

and

farcry_amd64_ecu.exe /a

this will create an unpack of the installation files on new folders you choose

Copy all the new files over your Far Cry installed files.

And voila you will have all the extra content like better textures, offset mapping etc. Only downer is you need to have a sm 2.0 card. Props to unstrain1969 over farcry forums for finding this :D. Now you've got another reason to reinstall the game and enjoy it all over again :p

Detailed Procedure:

Installation of the Patch 1.32:

copy farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe to your C root drive

open a command prompt window

run cmd

type cd c:

and

type: farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe /a and press enter

follow the wizard and extract on a new folder C:\AMD64UPGRADE

The unpacked files should have this structure:

C:\AMD64UPGRADE\

PROGRAM FILES\

UBISOFT\

CRYTEK\

FAR CRY\

-BIN64

-FCDATA

-LANGUAGES

-LEVELS

-SHADERS

-SUPPORT

Now copy the folders

-FCDATA

-LANGUAGES

-LEVELS

-SHADERS

in your FC install folder overwriting and following the structure of the original directories.

For the Enhanced Content Patch:

copy farcry_amd64_ecu.exe to your C root drive

open a command prompt window

run cmd

type cd c:

and

type: farcry_amd64_ecu.exe /a and press enter

follow the wizard and extract on a new folder C:\AMD64ECU

The unpacked files should have this structure:

C:\AMD64ECU\

PROGRAM FILES\

UBISOFT\

CRYTEK\

FAR CRY\

-FCDATA

-LEVELS

-SUPPORT

Now copy the folders

-FCDATA

-LEVELS

overwriting the same folders in your FC install folder following the structure of the original directories.
 
err no this is for enabling 64 bit content on a 32 bit OS. If you try to install the .exe's then you will get a error message stating that 64bit winxp not detected or something to that effect. With this you are extracting the content out of the exe's and replacing it in the farcry directory ;)
 
This has nothing to do with 64-bit proccies and OS'es. This is abt. enabling a few spl. areas added in the 64-bit patch and add-on made for 64-bit OS'es but which can now be run on 32-bit OS'es if we follow what's given in Blade's post. Thx. for the info. Blade. Didn't know this was possible.

Np man ! not only special areas but increases the IQ as well. Hi-res textures, offset mapping, greater draw distance etc are among the benefits. ;) Try it out if you are planning to play farcry the second time.
