I know that TP-Link doesnt support DoH, dont know about other consumer routers.
So if you use DoH, please state your router model.

I use it but I built my own Openwrt x86 router and it's running an instance of Adguard home which supports DNS over HTTPS/TLS.
Do tell more about your router specs? How do you maintain it, is it like configure and forget it type or do you have to fix issues from time to time.

It's a Celeron based mini PC and runs Openwrt x86 from a USB drive.
Also works as a DNS adblocker + NAS + torrent download box + SQM traffic shaping.

Once setup, I don't have to do anything other than occasional updates of Adguard Home or Openwrt as and when needed.

Openwrt can also be flashed on compatible routers but limitations such as limited flash memory or RAM will be there.

Running unbound + pihole on a Pi4, Forced DNS redirection to PiHole via the router (XT8 running asuswrt).
Client > Pihole > unbound

If you don't want this complicated setup, just flash the router with custom fw like dd-wrt/open-wrt, etc and use DoH ot DoT

Do you have DNS failover as well on XT8 ? cause if pi is down for some reason, will it take down the network (no dns resolution)?
No it very rarely does, like once in two months, that too mostly because either the dogs or the maid tugged on the power cable

Using Archer C80 router + 2 AdGuard Home instance (Zima board + Pi4) for redundancy.
