There was a scheme for 3GS for 13K with Aircel which I really liked. Dad is also accustomed to iOS as he has quite verse with iPad. But I don't mind giving him a taste of Andriod to him.

Xperia U suits your need and the crisp 3'5" screen with dual core will provide great experience. The only catch , no microsd slot and the storage can only be expanded by USB OTG.

You can get it around 14k odd after using coupon at online stores, for anything else Sola should fit the bill but its a bit on the higher side.
