Amazon India - Feedback Thread

I don't follow. I was wrong about what? Could you please clafiry?
He is saying that it seems that the error was from the seller as he agreed to ship you the missing HDMI cable. Hence you were wrong about it being a mistake by Amazon.
That's what I think he is trying to say.

Contacting the seller directly in the case of "Amazon Fulfilled" items is pointless as they (the sellers) have no control over their own items stored at Amazon's warehouse.

In any case, for "Amazon fulfilled" orders, customer service is provided by Amazon not the 3rd party seller. This is mentioned on the Amazon website which clearly states -

"Amazon also handles all customer service and product returns for "Fulfilled by Amazon" items."

Link for the above -

Third party sellers have nothing to do with an "Amazon Fulfilled" orders other than its their stock lying in Amazons warehouse.

Its just pure luck that the seller in question agreed to send me the missing cable. He was under no legal obligation to do so.

Case in point - I had posted earlier in this thread itself that I had ordered a PC DVD game via Amazon.in where the seller being "Cloudtail" (which is a company that is partly owned by Amazon) & the order was "Amazon Fulfilled". Item recd. with DVD missing.

I contacted Amazon.in, they offered a refund which I refused. I then contacted the seller - ie. Cloudtail. Below is a copy of the reply I recd. from them (I have bold'd the pertinent bits)-

Hi,
Greetings fromCloudtailIndia Private Limited.
CloudtailIndia is FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) seller. Fulfilled by Amazon indicates that products are stored, packed and dispatched by Amazon.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We do not do direct exchanges.
We understand that you wish to return your order. To do so, please visit the following link to return your order.

https://www.amazon.in/gp/css/returns/homepage.html/

Kind regards,
TeamCloudtail

In other words, Cloudtail didn't offer any solution of their own and simply shifted the onus onto Amazon itself. You can see their reply is pretty much a "copy paste" affair they would send anyone who contacted them regarding an "Amazon Fulfilled" order related issue.

IMO, contacting a 3rd party seller directly in the case of a problem with an "Amazon Fulfilled" order is pot luck. You could get lucky (like I did) but then again you may not.

In the case of "Amazon Fulfilled" orders the onus on delivering the ordered item with no parts missing lies with Amazon - not the 3rd party seller...

Ordered a PC DVD game via Amazon. Item was sold by "Cloudtail" (a company that is partly owned by Amazon) & order was "Amazon Fulfilled".

Box arrived with DVD missing.

Called up Amazon, they "suggested" their courier boy may have taken out the DVD. Its highly unlikely that happened as the DVD was shrink wrapped when I opened it. They offered a refund.

Next time I will make it a point to open packages and check items in the presence of the courier as apparently even Amazon/Cloudtail (FK/WSRetail equivalent) cant be trusted to deliver what they promise. Extremely disappointing...
How do they refund if a product is ordered Via COD Cash on delivery and it has some defects or Some part is missing in the Order...

You contact them and bring the issue to their notice.

They then collect the item which is taken to their warehouse for "inspection".

Anywhere between 7-10 days after the pick-up, they courier you a cheque for the refunded amount which you then need to deposit in your bank.

The process is tedious, time consuming and annoying.

FK is far superior in that they offer you a "replacement item". Their guy comes, delivers the replacement item that you can open and inspect and simultaneously picks up the defective item.

FK (where WS Retail is the seller) seems to have a much more "customer friendly" policy on the issue in comparison to Amazon.in/Cloudtail who's policy is simply a waste of the customers time apart from the inconvenience it causes...

That's odd. I returned an item recently bought on COD , was given an option of cheque or neft when I initiated a return. Chose neft, guy came picked up the product , received the money in account after the product was received at their warehouse

When I have contacted them in the past they have always stated their policy for COD order refunds is exclusively via cheque payment. I have recd. 2 cheques from them in the past and had to take them to the bank to deposit them which I found quite annoying. This is the email I recd. from them in those earlier cases -

If you paid for your order using credit/debit card or net banking, it may take up to 5-7 business days for your bank to credit the refund amount to your account.

Please note that if you paid through EMI on Credit card, this refund may cause a change in the terms of your EMI with your credit card issuer, and the issuer might levy a charge for the EMI cancellation. Please check with your Credit Card issuer on how your EMI may be affected.

If you paid by Gift Card, your Gift Card Balances will be credited to your Amazon Account within 1 working day.

If you paid for your order using Cash on Delivery, an At Parchequedrawn on Deutsche Bank will be delivered to you in 6-8 business days. The beneficiary bank will be responsible to present thechequefor outstation clearing, if required. Please check the same with your bank while presenting thecheque.

But you're right, they seem to have updated their policy on the issue. I just saw this -

http://www.amazon.in/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201149940

Earlier, the option for "NEFT to Bank Account" was missing for COD orders. Now its present so that's a good thing.

Thanks for bringing it to my notice sandeepsachin. At least now I have another option rather than the annoying "cheque refund" method should I need to return something in a future order...

This is a huge thumbs up from me.
First, they delivered the product to a relatively remote place via IndiaPost, within expected time.
Secondly, it was the Redmi 2 phone for my father and I ordered on 24th June for 7K. But as today price reduced by 1K, I raised a concern to their CC. Within 10 minutes I got the following reply. They will refund 1K, the price difference.

Hello,

I do understand your concern that item"Redmi 2 (White) " price is reduced.

Amazon doesn't offer a price match guarantee. The constantly changing marketplace and our efforts to offer you the lowest price, may result in fluctuations in our prices over time.

However, you can let us know about a lower price by clicking the "tell us about a lower price" link in the Product Details section of any product page.

However, for the order #xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, since price is decreased, we are making an exception in your case and offering you a refund of Rs.1000 through your Visa card. Please note that the refund will be initiated only after the order is delivered.

We request you to inform us about the delivery of the order, so that we can initiate the refund.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in this regard.

I hope my help was up to your satisfaction. We look forward to seeing you again.

Yayyy !!! :D :D

Abroad, Amazon has a sort of "unofficial/unstated" policy (not to be confused with Amazon's "Pre-orderstated "14 day Price Guarantee" policy on certain specific items) whereby if a person buys an "Amazon Fulfilled" item and Amazon drops the price for the item within 7 days of purchase, then the customer can contact Amazon for a partial discount based on the price difference. The refund/partial discount is totally at Amazon's discretion of course but they generally honor it.

However I didn't think Amazon.in would follow the same "unofficial" policy. In any case, its very nice of them to offer you a partial refund considering its been more than 7 days since the price drop and would therefore not even be eligible for partial refund on Amazon's located abroad.

Well done Amazon.in. :)

Enjoy your phone...

I had a same experience with Flipkart. I bought nexus 7 2012 @11k, they reduced the price in the same month to 9k.
On expressing my discontent, they credited the difference amount to my Flipkart wallet. That too when they had a sort of monopoly in Indian online market scene.

^ from the "Contact Us", I selected my order and put some random thing for 'Select an issue' :)
On the e-mail option, I asked if I would get any benefit since the price has been reduced within 10 days of my order.

I wasn't that optimistic about it. Hence the reply came as a surprise to me.

Damn you can do that? Even after a week? That's pretty interesting, how to go about asking for the difference amount?

Though not logically but, India is Democracy - if you don't raise your concern, it won't be addressed...

By the way if you don't ask.. The answer is always a No!!

Quick question, urgent answer needed please :)

Got To return shoes to amazon India 3rd party seller, via India post. They asked Indian post specifically

Do Indian post has facility to pack up the box, or we need to take it there packed?

We just cut off the outer polythene from received package, and we don't have packing materials at home.

You'll need to pack it and go to the post office. You can use the same amazon box in which you received it.

Had purchased an Logitech G100s gaming keyboard+mouse combo from amazon - 1 February 2015, and just kept it for future use. But When i found out it maybe "fake" as some members could not register it on Logitech Site, i tried to register it too with no luck. I sent an email to amazon and to my surprise they agreed to pickup the package from my place and give 100% refund.

Amazon is not delivering Package on time now a days

Amazon surprisingly has tied up with India Post for delivery. Expect delays.[DOUBLEPOST=1441719303][/DOUBLEPOST]

Flipkart didn't give any such benefit to me when I complained about the same.
