BSNL EVDO - have some queries about speed and charges

Thanks for the pics, would surely try and see if i can get this cable. My first modem has reached Mumbai and has been shipped by Blue dart. Expected arrival date is 28th May.Also, what is the information that i need to read off the card.i am trying to arrange for a modem just to read the info out of it. Please let me know the details regarding the same.
 
Thanks, when they gave the sim they said that the user and pass is the same which is the mobile number. So would try and get the other stuff. Also out fo Home SID & NID , Primary channel A & B , prl file which would be common which u can get from any bangalore ruim and what wuld be card specific. ESN would be RUIM specific,anything else is RUIM specific or its general for one location. Pardon my asking this question but just trying to understand and gain knowledge as i saw few posts where people were sharing files and details which could be uploaded and used for configuration.
 
when you discuss about esn shift to PM
home sid and nid , primary channel A and B and prl all are common to your city . only thing you want from you RUIM is the esn

SID and NID different for each city , Primary and secondary channel A and B and esn in RUIM

I was able to read the ESN of my sim in the tata photon ec1261 by enabling the RUIM option, but other settings i am not able to read. There is a NAM option but while trying to unlock photon for reliance, i had overwritten nam entries. So i don't know what NAM it is showing now and its showing the same entiries with the sim removed and added so i guess getting other settings through this modem would not be possible. Atleast i got the ESN it is alphanumeric and 8 characters.

I have a colleague who has a reliance netconnect in office, will try to unlock the same and see if i can read more info out of it. The regular SPC 000000 is not working on that modem, so i need to figure out how to get the SPC code to unlock it. Bitpim did not work. Will try an alternative method today.

Still waiting for bluedart for delivery today.


Well, i just finished posting this and the doorbell rang. The bluedart guy walked in. I got my modem and battery shipped. :) finally the long wait is over and i got my first modem from US. Total time taken to get this over 2 weeks.

I am all excited now ...

i could have given u the all india roaming activated prl file from other forum.... but since it was posted long ago there, all links were dead....
i guess u may have to get it from BSNL official only....
i am equally excited about ur modem.... pls post pics of ur modem with courier if possible....

Modem looks good condition is good.I just connected to check through USB and it is getting detected and both the lights on the modem for Data and power are coming on. It's still no configured so no update on the speeds yet. Having a tough time there as i got couple of modems Ec159 and one more both didn't work. After unlocking as soon as you restart the modem it locks back to NV_only and does not read the sim. So my struggle continues for now.

I also saw the all india roaming profile on BSNL EVDO forum but, that forum is read only now and its difficult to get any updates from there.
 
Dushie I am mod. at that EV-DO forum. Let me know which file you want. there is a thread where all city wise files are uploaded.
 
Wow, today is my lucky day, Cisco_tech didn't know you are a mod there, Well i was looking at the all india roaming prl file which will work anywhere in India, if possible the Bangalore PRL.
 
Ok here is the all india PRL file attached. this file is quite old. not sure it will work or not if BSNL has recently changed the settings.
but give it a try.

Following the settings that you can edit in QPST or CDMA Tools.
1) The IMSI_S for all the tabs (CDMA, CDMA2, Advanced) should be your number.
2) The PPP login for AN and UM should be your_number@AAAxx.IN
where xx defers for your connection like BG(South Circle- Bangalore), VD(West Circle- Vadodra) etc.
And password is your_number.
3) Under System settings; Hybrid Pref : ON and all others: Automatic.
4) The ZTEUI login is either CDMA, BSNL (login & password both) or
your_number@AAAxx.IN
where xx defers for your connection like BG, VD etc.
And password is your_number.

Well don't know if there are some specific software's to download.As per the inputs and directions i have already downloaded DFS,QPST. Also have downloaded the Sierra unlock utility and the watcher utility from the links already present in this thread.

i have been playing around with DFS for a while as i unlocked couple of reliance modems today to read my sim card but unfortunately post reconnecting they revert back to NV_only setting.So still need to read information of my sim in the modem.

Also have installed the drivers and software of Sierra modem on my laptop and it installed properly. The only worry is to arrange a modem to read the info from the sim card.Post which i would take help and the steps to get this going.

Just got an update that the second modem has reached Mumbai and it will be arriving in couple of days time.

Fine, i dont want to spoil ur mood, u r trying to get that modem work for u & i feel sorry to say this that i had ZTE AC8700 modem, now its no where to be seen...i could have given u that modem for getting all the details u needed to configure 595....did u get the final price of ur first device & second device ?can u pls post here all the software links u have got to get the modem configured including the unlocker & connection manager for 595 ?i would appreciate ur work....

Well i just posted the links that were earlier posted in the forum. The costing is the same what they had quoted. The modem came in a box with the battery and CD.

Item Price : Rs 840 . International Shipping Rs 665 , Duty & Taxes Rs 305. Total will came up to Rs 1810
 
The costing for the second one is also the same, as the same forwarder has shipped it for me.I have paid them so the modem should be here in a couple of days time.

Nope, its fine for me. It disconnects and reconnects every 2-3 hours or so. Anyway my speeds aren't that great. Won't be renewing next month! :|
