After teasing products on its forums for a few days, Xiaomi held the anniversary event earlier today and staying true to the momentous nature of it, announced five new additions to its product lineup

The most significant of the announcements was the launch of the Redmi 2A, a device more budget friendly than the existing Redmi lineup. Powered by a Leadcore L1860C SoC and a Mali T628MP2 GPU, featuring 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, an 8MP camera, 2200mAh battery and dual-SIM capabilities, the device cuts an imposing figure in the budget sector when coupled with its $97 price tag, which will be further slashed to $81 during the Mi Fan Festival on Apri 8th. In addition to the Redmi 2A, Xiaomi also announced a smartphone-connected weighing scale, a pink variant of the Mi Note, a fast-charge enabled smart power strip and a 55″ variant of the Mi TV2.

n addition to the new product announcements, Xiaomi also showcased a 2GB RAM variant of its Mi4 flagship as opposed to 3GB, and discounted the regular Mi4 to $290. No release date was given for any announcements, but with the Mi Fan Festival set to take place on April 8th, there’s a fairly good chance that one or more of these products will hit the market on that day.
