lol at the topic creator. Are you 10 years old or something? BJP controls police in delhi too FYI. Police also regularly conduct raids where there are minors involved here. There are such areas in every city in india whether controlled by AAP or BJP or Congress. Prostitution will always be there as sex is a basic human need

I don't think I'm 10 years old. But why declare it as illegal then? You are the one who's being childish here. Haven't you read the law? If it's such and such as you are saying and supporting the matter, then why isn't it publicly legalized buddy? Why are there still news reports in the media of sex rackets getting busted everyday? Why did Priyanka Chopra's massage parlor got raided by the police for sex racket? Do you have any answer? For example: If you are caught during a raid in such places, will you be able to explain to the police that "sex is a basic human need hence I am in a brothel and taking favors from a prostitute in exchange for money"?

Simply because we are a nation of prudes and are always in a state of denial regarding things that aren't right in our country. Instead of understanding the problem and trying to find a real solution, we end up making short cut laws and ordinances that do more harm than good in the long run.

This is how our country and every institution runs - knee jerk reactions. Unfortunately this is innate in each one of us in some way. The rot stems real deep everywhere. The earlier we wake up and smell the stench and do something, the better.

]But why declare it as illegal then?

Who said prostitution is illegal in India? It is a legal profession in our country. If an adult women chooses to be a prostitute of her own will, there is not a thing that the law is going to do about it.

However, what is illegal is somebody running a business around it with several sex workers by opening a brothel or providing such services in a hotel and even public solicitation is illegal. But the profession itself is not illegal. There are also certain spins on the profession like the caste system linked Devadasi culture which was made illegal since it involved minors being forced into it.

Interestingly, if you look at history from even a few centuries ago, this choice of life has always been the one that afforded women the most liberty of all. For example, 5 centuries ago, women in Europe has had only 3 choices.

1. Get married at a young age quite often before even becoming a teenager.
2. Become a nun
3. Become a courtesan/prostitute

There were many women who preferred to become a courtesan after being a nun or sometimes even a house wife.

Then why did Priyanka Chopra's massage centre got raided by the police for sex racketing and people were arrested too? So Police can arrest anyone anytime and it is also legal?

Police doing any action is not a conclusion in itself. Once police does the action, its challenged in court and if the final court approves it, its considered proper. Police action can be motivated politically or by some agenda. Once police raids, their reputation is gone, irrespective of whether they find anything concrete or not. Thats how police works. They arent saints that do a lot of preparation, analysis or investigation before taking action.

Cause politicians make laws, and politicians are driven by politics not logic. I thought that was obvious.

Why isnt it publicly legalized? Cause politicians and religious leaders can't keep their hold on the country if people became liberal in their thought process. What next? Question religious activities and the religious leaders advocating them? And by extension question the politicians supported by these religious leaders? lol Maybe consider what you say instead of typing it out. A bit of thinking before you type will go a long way in reducing questions with obvious answers.

It is indeed illegal and a conclusion, and is reported by media itself as a sex racket. What more proof do you want that it is illegal? If you get caught in such places during raids, will you be able to question the police and claim that it's legal? I don't think so and I think you will probably end up being arrested. Police says its illegal, Television news channels report it as illegal(busted illegal sex rackets). What more proof do you want that it's illegal?

Hahaha Man its really to argue with people when they don't understand the difference between getting arrested and convicted. A policeman can arrest you on any pretext without evidence (making it up himself), you get bail, and the court then actually checks the evidence for credibility. Once it rules you arent guilty, you're free as before.

Please dont quote me again, you're just rambling like without doing any basic research.

Then go have fun with pimps. And afterwards when you get caught while blowing a load, then don't tell me. Arrested or convicted, either way you will have a criminal record for your whole life which will stand as a roadblock in your way for getting jobs or visa

It is illegal. If police is arresting someone for something illegal and Television News channels are also reporting it as illegal, then its definitely not allowed. G.B Road is working with over 1000 sex workers working in brothels daily as quoted from Wikipedia non-editable summary. You are so desperate in proving me wrong, that you don't see the main point of your own post which saddens me. Are you able to read and write in English properly? Or are you just copy pasting what other people in this thread are posting?

G.B. Road (full name Garstin Bastion Road) is a road running from Ajmeri Gate to Lahori Gate, in Delhi, India. It is a large red-light district.[1] It has several hundred multi-story brothels and there are estimated to be over 1000 sex workers.[2] It is lined with two or three-storey buildings that have shops on ground floor. About twenty of these buildings have about 100 brothels on the first floor that open at night after the shops at ground level close. It is the biggest red light area in Delhi.[3] The road's name was officially changed to Swami Shradhanand Marg in 1966.

So the question is why the arbitrary enforcement. GB Road is fine, Priyanka's joint apparently is not. Though it would have to go through courts. So the real answer will only be revealed then.

media & pols saying this or that is illegal means squat.

If those people are arrested then what charge are they being arrested on. Wait for these details.

Do track the topic over a period of time. Don't give up

It could be that the cops in G.B Road are extremely corrupt(which means it goes all the way up to the SHO or higher). Or the police stationed in G.B Road are afraid of the goons there. The first one being more likely.

Track the topic for a few weeks and you will discover the reasons, not all is known at this point.

Well. I think you should rather question your own mental capacity for understanding and consider whether you are just being stupid about it.

The point is that prostitution is not illegal. But it is illegal to run a business around it and advertise it. Do these establishments advertise themselves publicly as brothels offering such services. Do they put up a huge board announcing their establishment as a brothel or the rates for everybody to see? If they are not doing that, it becomes a grey area. Everybody in Delhi may know that the street is full of brothels, but Common knowledge is not sufficient to establish guilt of wrong doing in a court of law. Evidence/testimony is required. In order to proceed against organized prostitution, first they need to be caught red handed and a lot of evidence collected, then the police involved needs to be honest enough to take the case to its conclusion. The brothel or business should not have some MLA or MP backing them and influencing the case.

If common public knowledge were enough for police action, here are some things more.

It is common knowledge that most of the politicians across all parties in the country are not only corrupt, but involved in a wide range of crimes including but not limited to abductions, rapes, murders, organized prostitution, human trafficking, drugs peddling and a variety of other illegal rackets.
It is common knowledge that the cine industry in our country is full of black money, underworld connections, organized prostitution and pimping at a massive scale as well as drug abuse and supply chain.

There are places like Ramoji Film city and a other large resorts in Hyderabad where you can hire any of a vast number of actors and other artists from Telugu movie and TV industry to sleep with for amounts ranging from tens of thousands to several lakh's or even crores. It is common knowledge for people in Hyderabad for years now, but is anybody going to take any action on it?

Most if not all of the resorts across the country that corporate's love to hire for their employee outings are also hubs of prostitution. Several years ago, one of the resorts here in Hyderabad that I went to for a employee outing had rooms for hire that cost 5 Lac+ per night. The clientele are politicians and rich business men and one of the managers after pestering by a colleague revealed that the cost of the room includes a call girl. They can apparently arrange many of known names form the Telugu cine/TV industry.

These places don't advertise themselves as brothels, but they make most of their money from this business only.

And here i'm thinking that if a certain person, instead of ditching his wife ages ago, got laid more often, perhaps he would be fcuking the rest of us and the country a little less...

It is common knowledge that someone gave the go ahead to basically exterminate a certain religious group of people, however the courts and SIT in their infinite wisdom decided he was innocent...
