Which UPI app do you use?

With the Government encouraging people to adopt Cashless transactions via UPI apps such as BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money).

Some quick about UPI for Starters..

What is UPI?
Unified Payment interface or UPI will allow customers to instantaneously transfer funds across different banks with the use of a single identifier which will act as a virtual address and eliminate the need to exchange sensitive information such as bank account numbers during a financial transaction.

Benefits of UPI :

1. Reduce need for e-wallets:

UPI is set to allow you to make payments using your mobile phone as the primary device without the need for you to download an app to send or receive money.
Hence, you may no longer need an e-wallet if convenience is your primary focus for using the product. Also, you will be able to use multiple e-wallets seamlessly as they will become inter-operable with UPI.

2. No need to disclose identity while making payments:
Sample this. If you want to settle your bill with the cab driver at the end of the journey, you just have to give your virtual address and the driver will request money from it. Sure, the system will check with you.

You will get a message on your mobile phone asking for authentication.
Once you authenticate the transaction by entering your password, it will be complete. This process doesn’t require you to share bank details with either the driver or the cab service provider. Also, since UPI runs on Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) platform, the service will be available real-time and 24x7.

3. Use any bank product:
UPI will make the payment system inter-operable. Hence, you will be able to use the products of any bank, even if you are not a customer, which has entered into an agreement to use the UPI platform.

4. One-click, two-factor authentication:
And finally, UPI enables a two-factor authentication in one click. So far, for a two-factor authentication, you have to click multiple times. With UPI, you will be able to do it at one click. This system will allow for a one-click, two-factor authentication on mobile phones across bank accounts.

Right now i'm Sticking with PhonePe which is Uber Cool and and also liked Chillr.

So which UPI enabled Application do you use? Let me know how good it is over other apps!

Tried BHIM, didn't like it, option to add only 1 bank account, cannot add multiple bank accounts.

I use HDFC banking app which has in built UPI.

ICICI app has UPI but I don't use it. Tired of making n number of pins here and there. Will stick to NEFT, CC or cash/cheque as form of payment.

Edit: Seems really simple to use. Just saw some videos on ICICI website on this.

UPI option in imobile never successful for me, always throw some or other errors. Also when I tried to use with axis pay, BHIM and PhonePe, ICICI always through wrong PIN error. But it can receive money through upi.

Axis bank and bank of Baroda working fine with axis pay and PhonePe.

BHIM app sucks for now. Couldn't pull details of my bank account initially but later in the mid-night i could.

- No option to delete bank account, only Change.
- No custom name setting option, It'll show your full name which your bank has.
- Amount restriction(s) per day.
- No customer support.

Right now PhonePe rocks which has minimal charges, Waiting for PayTM to integrate UPI.

Gave up on Paytm. Promised to give 50% cashback on some transaction. Gave cashback of only Rs.5/- . Customer service is worst. Only automated replies.

ICICI Pockets also has support for UPI. So, if you don't want to use your main account, you can keep a smaller amount in Pockets and use UPI from there.

I activated UPI in the HDFC app on Moto X Play. It was OK, tried a few transactions within a few family a/c's to confirm its functioning.

But, the same HDFC bank app crashes each & every time in UPI - not for regular banking - in Mi4i. Don't know why?

Installed BHIM on Mi4i. App reports "unable to send SMS" - even with only 1 SIM in place and all permissions allowed and multiple re-starts.

PhonePe looks decent but, I am not comfortable giving accounts to 3rd parties, yet.

Anyway, no one has asked me to pay using UPI till date.

Next time read whats written carefully before misrepresenting information to the wider audience. It was clearly stated as upto 50% with minimum amount of 5Rs.

Anyone successfully activated UPI for SBI account?
My goodness what a pain it is ...

Tried SBI Pay - kept on crashing, on 2 phones - uninstalled.

This is what generally amazes me.We (India) claim to be great in software. I found most apps of Indian companies (like this SBI Pay) are unadulterated PITA. L1 quotes in action?!
