  • 1 Changed the cable

  • 3 driver installed and showing ready to use.
  • 4 In My computer it is showing :

    and

SO hdd is at its EOL. My objective is to recover the data . I have tried Easeus but it requires 105 hrs of at a stretch operations which i cannot do because of power cut problem.

WD data life guard cannot scan and says I/O error.

I even tried to format it but cannot do that because of the same I/O error.

What option do i have to recover the data?

It is just 6 months old, so no doubt i will RMA it, but before that can WD recover the sata?

That's an unusually high number of bad sectors, and it probably corrupted the MBR which is why your disk partition data disappeared.

Firstly, before anyone recommends using one of those bad sector repair tools - don't do that!

Try Getdataback. Manually select individual files to recover, instead of recovering all files in one shot.
Keep an eye on the current pending sector count and see if its rising. If it is, it could be a head issue (external drive = most likely he dropped the drive?) which means all R/W operations are only killing the drive, in which case don't bother recovering data yourself.

AFAIK WD does not offer data recovery services.
