Update on ACT Fibernet ( bigger fraud than chortel)

Base on my yearly average, my average data usage per month is always stays blow 150gig.

But recently, for last 2-3 month i am constantly hitting the FPU of 300+ GB. It not secret that they fake add data usage.
i just have a check on my data usage-log now and i'm surprised to find.
  1. they have added 37+GB of data on my account ( 32Gb download 5 Gb upload) on 11th November. - we were not even in home this diwali period for 4-5 days, and return only on 11th late night and probably switched on the the router almost just before midnight. so theoretically it transferred 37 Gb in 15-20 minutes from our mobile phones connected ? ( no one in our family has any kind of cloud backup, icloud or google pictures activate in our phone).
  2. They have advertised the only download will be counted towards FUP but now they count both without intimation to customer. I don't know since when they have started this.
no wonder i was hitting the FUP as they keep on manipulating the data usage by adding fake data. Customer case is as useless as one can imagine... Airtel had all engineers in back-end, but ACT has all illiterate cabelwallas who refuse to understand any logic. And they forcing me to accept i have a virus in my computer which is uploading and downloading data even when my router was not even powered on.

for example, this is yesterday night usage. it magically upload and download. (wireless radio is turned off around 11:30pm everyday in our home and first person to wake up will turn it on, roughly 6-630am).

Just wanted this to share my experience with the community. and be aware of ACT Broadband.

Edit- I change ACT passwords every 5-6 month, as a precaution i have changed my password again now (https://selfcare.actcorp.in/group/blr/myaccount) and will keep monitoring the logs closer.

Companies have the audacity to do such blatant thieving because of our weak consumer laws and even weaker punishments when caught.
I have been trying to use up all my 4g data everyday since Airtel have now forced us to shift to monthly plans. They always cut off the internet between 1 and 1.5GB while the limit is 1.5GB. It's even more difficult to challenge them in case of a mobile connection as there are background services in play.

ACT anyways gives so much data before FUP on most plans, it is not worth fighting for a gig or two. Wish I had ACT at my new place. Currently struggling on 4G speeds :(

They did inform through email that both upload and download would count towards FUP. They doubled my limit to 500GB(Download + Upload) from 250GB (download only).

By switching off wireless radio do u mean the router is on but the Wifi signal is off?

Lets try to eliminate all possibilities .
Router malware are a thing. So if unexpected usage happens when router is ON and wifi is off, then it could be malware. If it shows usage when the whole router is powered off then ofcourse they are screwing it up.[DOUBLEPOST=1543070978][/DOUBLEPOST]Edit: Another thing to try to find the culprit. In router settings limit the connection, either by reducing the connection speed or enabling firewall to only allow specific websites.

ACT usually does some stuff up, but I have stopped fussing over the couple of GB's they claim I used. Most of it is because they have raised the monthly usage to 1250GB, and I use up only 200GB max. Say even if they fake a 100 or even 200GBs a month, I still have no way of hitting the FUP cap. As @rdst_1 said, it is mainly due to our weak consumer laws!

I would still suggest you worry about the possibility of that router malware. They can do a whole of nasty stuff on your whole network. Like spying, inserting porn ads to all your devices, sending SPAM like crazy to all over the internet blacklisting your IP and so on..
