The PSP Buy Guide - Thread

Hi Guys

Getting 100's of PM's everyday , where to get the PSP from which version
etc.......................

Dont create multiple threads plz

So here is the answer.

1.> GET PSP Slim only [any version dont worry]
Cost : 8.5~9K [I got for 8.5K]
[dont worry about warranty as when u flash with ahem firmware the warranty is void]

2.> Get Original Seal packed Memory Stick [ONLY]
2GB - 2.3K , 4GB - 3.1K [Get normal or the M2 ones]
[These are the prices that i got might vary from place to place , just
take care that it's seal packed and you get bill and warranty]
[Why seal packed? coz the fake ones keep corrupting the data and are useless on the PSP]

3.> Where to buy from [I know only about Mumbai]

There is
1. Alfa - Irla [Between Vile Parle and Andheri]
2. Croma
3. Ninja Traders
4. Origin Games - Inorbit Malls [Malad]
I got mine from Cell Point 4 Bunglows Andheri West.
Many shops have the PSP Slim.
4.> Those who say PSP Slim's not arrived here give them a tight slap :eek:hyeah:
[What more can i say , I stay in Mumbai and i got one here only in Mumbai]
[Even Croma Andheri had one but was out of stock and they told me to come in the evening but i got one from other shop the same day]

5.> PSP Downgrade Guide.
[Its complicated so ask some experienced guy to help you out or get ask if the store guys flashes it for you]
Those who can take risks heres the guide: http://www.techenclave.com/forums/guide-to-psp-downgrading-100366.html
[Thanks spacescreamer]

6.> Identifying Original Memstick.
Insert the memstick in ur PSP and start ur PSP
Goto > Video > Memorycard > Press Triangle > click on information
If Magicgate = Supported is shown then its Original.
Anything other than supported is shown then its fake.
Eg. Magicgate = Unknown , then its fake 1000000%

7.> Get a scratch guard to protect the screen
Got mine for 400Rs [Cost varies from 350 to 500]
Well this answers all the question.

Mod Edit:Just incase you missed it, the above details are for Mumbai, India.

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

Quad bhai :D Very Nice thread :) Reps ++ .. Since I am looking forward to PSP you are the right person to get info :)

Get Original Seal packed Memory Stick [ONLY]

Just 1 query since most users consider original to product manufacturer sticks please add. these Sony Sticks are normally slower than others so better stay away with those and try buying Kingston or Sandisk compatible sticks

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

thanks Quad Master ,
but one more query
in mumbai can anyone give mi psp iso file,2nd hand umds ,coz i dont have internet

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

@DarkStar - I am using a Sandisk Memory Stick M2 - 2GB.

@naikvasai - This thread is strictly related to buying a PSP not discussing UMD's and ISOs you can ask in the market section only for second hand UMD's not the ISO's as they are illegal and not officially distributed by Sony.

Guys please stick with queries related to buying the PSP only in this thread.

I meant that only but since you mentioned "Original" still most people has thinking that only Sony sticks will be used in Sony products and Nokia in nokia and vice versa :p So please put a note Do not opt for original Sony sticks rather get Sandisk, Kingston or other :)

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

question...

i am currently running 3.30 OE on my fatboy

it turns out that there are a bunch of new firmwares availavle now

should I upgrade to the m33 revisions or just let the thing stay as-is?

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

it's probably a good idea to get upto at least 3.40oe. as far as i know, there is almost no game that doesn't run on it. 3.52 is the defacto standard as of now, no compatibility issues and loads of homebrew made for it. that trend is changing however, and people/homebrew developers are moving on to 3.71 now.

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

nice guide bro! In addition to the screen guard, one can also purchase the "Logitech PSP PlayGear Pocket":

Amazon.com: PSP PlayGear Pocket: Video Games

It is around Rs. 650 at Spencer Plaza, Chennai. It's a nice PSP protection case and you can play on PSP without having to take out the PSP out of the case.

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

Thanks for the info monty.

Will check that out here at spencers if its available by chance.

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

i think it should be readily available but i am not sure if this case is for the PSP slim version. Most of the PSP cases in the market would be for PSP fat version.

Re: The PSP Buy Guide - Thread [All Qtns Answered Here]

Is there anywhere in Mumbai i can get a premodded (or whatever the term is) PSP?
