State owned BSNL's 'competitive' broadband plans across India

Hello all,

Since TE encompasses members from across the length and breadth of India, i am hoping that members would be able to contribute towards this thread.

Aim is to finally appeal to BSNL and inquire about the discrepancy/differential treatment meted out via their broadband plans. The main post will be updated periodically.

Kindly suggest your take and approach for tackling this impending issue.

1) My current broadband plan (Location- NCR/UP)

Review- Speeds are good and consistent. Pings are horrible.
The downtimes are not too worrying, but the Customer care is pathetic. 4Mbps plan isnt successful as per linesman.

The reason I am pissed off is the fact that BSNL provides better plans in cities where they have competition from ISPs such as ACT & Beam while taking other people of India for a ride.
Here are the plans for Hyderabad: http://www.ap.bsnl.co.in/flashapnews/BB123.htm
Similar/better plans exist for Bangalore, Chennai, Noida, Gurgaon, etc. This means that BSNL is capable if providing better speeds but won't do so
We need to stand up and file a formal complaint at CCI.

Gleaned some more info on this-
Recently there was some discussion on a reddit AMA as well, where an MP (Rajeev Chandrasekhar) was asked about this very question. Though he claimed to be a tech enthusiast, his replies were utterly poor and looked more like an attempt to duck out of the line of fire.
The reason he gave for BSNL's varying plans was- Not enough competition (in effected areas) + TRAI has been toothless + More active participation needed from consumers. That TRAI has been made to feel the heat properly on the net neutrality issue.
Poor and pathetic on his part imo.

Also, seems this is another plan floating about for BSNL Hyderabad:

BSNL DOESNT UPDATES ITS SITES PROPERLY.. So try to get hold of exact site links if possible.

@swatkats
Neat effort there mate. Need exactly the kinds of screenshots that you provided. Maybe some simple links to the screenshots of pings will complete the data needed from members who are availing DataOne here.
Also, pls do supply the parent site link as well. Will be easier to find more info if the need be.

Need some more such screenshots guys. :)

Question: I think there was news about some guy who calmly explained to BSNL people that his business suffered because of their capped upload speeds. BSNL guy (nodal officer i think) read his letter and enabled full duplex from there on.

Secondly, pls correct me if i am wrong here. after mass emailing by people, BSNL upgraded the speed to 512kbps instead of 256kbps.

Just trying to finalize the roadmap here.

I got this enquired at my local exchange office. They say they have never heard about this lol. Btw I stay in Hubli

Where can we actually get the right plan info for BSNL. Their websites are not accurate a lot of time.
According to bsnlteleservices.com, BSNL is giving a promo offer across India for 8Mbps plans. 2841 for 8Mbps till 175GB and 512kbps beyond :banghead:. Also urban and rural plans are different as well, but I am hoping this one is available everywhere because in my village BSNL is the only option for now.

They seem to have different plans for each circle. So in most of the cases, they are not aware of pan india plans.
