LG created quite a stir with its
high-end Optimus G
smartphone this year and if rumours around the tech word
are to be believed, the flagship was just the beginning of
things to come. The handset manufacturer is supposedly
already working on its next big
offering and loading it with
more than a few flagship-like
features. Aptly named the Optimus G2,
LG’s new handset is believed to
run on a powerful quad-core
processor, a 2.0 or a 2.5 GHz
Krait chipset. An Adreno 320
GPU takes care of the phone’s graphics performance. The
device also packs in a more-
than-adequate RAM of 2 GB.
According to GSMarena, LG may use Qualcomm's MSM8974
chipset in its phone. This
processor is a part of
Qualcomm’s new and upcoming
Prime portfolio. LG, on its part, is working on a
revamped display, a 1080p HD screen which it is likely to first test out on its flagship. As far
as the phone’s camera goes,
the tech giant may go with the
13-megapixel snapper it has
given the Optimus G or it might
ramp it up with a more sophisticated shooter. The most exciting spec detail
about the Optimus G2 is the
one about its operating system.
Rumour has it that the flagship
model with run on Android’s
5.0 platform, the new and improved Key Lime Pie set up. Given that Qualcomm’s chipset
will only be available in Q2 of
2013, the Optimus G2 will most
likely release in the third
quarter of next year. If LG’s
flagship is everything it is speculated to be, it might just
be able to give its biggest competitors including Sony and
Samsung a tough run for their money. We will be waiting and
watching for the LG Optimus
G2. Stay with us.
