Testing with a 650D which also happens to be in the house (Roommate's :))

(In camera JPEGS only)
Setup
1) Same setup
2) Only kit lenses used (didn't want to give 50mm to Sony and give it an undue advantage)
3) ISO 800 - 12800 tested
4) Only showing jpegs as I forgot to shoot RAW with 650D (my bad)
5) All shots at 18mm f3.5 (Kit 18-55mm lenses)
6) Shutter speeds varied evenly

Went shopping for a few more accessories today. Mainly a good TTL flash for the body.

I found this to be the best value for money

Nissin Di622 Mark II

Advantages
Sony P-TTL/ADI works
Works in wireless in-camera TTL mode for Sony :D
Guide number 44 much higher than a Sony F42AM
Works natively with no adapters on my Sony
Cheaper than Sony counterpart

Rest of the stuff
A remote shutter release, a UV filter and stofen (not in pic)

can you tell me the problems, there must be some, with this camera? and apart from kit lens which is the other lenses essential , just checking the total cost

prime and zoom

Well I got this as a bundle with kit (which is inseparable) and a 50mm zoom. I would say kit would be ok for normal usage but I plan to get a 17-50 f2.8 tamron to replace my kit.

Zoom wise I would get a 2nd hand 70-210 f4 Minolta beer can which is quite good. Then u can get Minolta 50 f1.4 or f1.7. Sony 35mm f1.8 is also quite a good lens.

Things I don't like about this camera.
Cant shoot NTSC or 24p and 60p. Models in Asia only PAL.
No manual audio control
Viewing video and photos not simple as it should be. Have to switch modes as video only or photo only
No tethering support so can't control using computer for stop motion stuff
Wireless flash only one channel and can't control individual flashes
The hotshoe is proprietary so can't mount standard accessories such as a rode video mic without an adapter.
