As many of you will know, when it comes to Hackintoshes, it is advised that you stick to the recommended parts so as to be able to go through installation with the least amount of hassle.

It is also well known that onboard wifi rarely works with a Hackintosh. Hence they have a list of recommended wifi cards which is as below:

TP-Link PCI Express Wifi Adapter 802.11N (N900)
Fenvi FV-T919
Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCE
TP-Link Archer T9E
TP-Link Archer Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter 802.11AC (T8E AC1750)

I am wondering if these are widely available in places like LR? I can't find much online except Amazon.

yes, they will be available

but isn't a USB WIFI adapter a better and cheaper option?

From what I read on the Hackintosh forums, the card is a better option. But I will do some research on this.
Worst case scenario, I will buy a 20 ft Ethernet cable and run it all the way across the living room ha ha[DOUBLEPOST=1503037724][/DOUBLEPOST]

Also, with the WIFI Adapter I will need onboard Wifi in the motherboard right? coz I think the one I was going for didn't have on board wifi.

Using this on yosemite -> TP-Link PCI Express Wifi Adapter 802.11N (N900) http://www.amazon.in/TP-Link-TL-WDN4800-Wireless-Express-Adapter/dp/B007GMPZ0A

Works flawlessly.

Also got this for a cheaper build -> http://www.amazon.in/D-Link-DWA-131...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

Works well with latest drivers. Auto connect on boot and signal strength etc works fine

Thanks man. When we use a dongle, do we still need a card?
No you dont need anything else if you use the above one with latest drivers. Its not native airport compatible, but works almost similarly and auto connects. Order on amazon and check performance. I havent tested exhaustively
