Hey All,

Creating a new thread here, further to my thread in Laptop advice, as this seems a more relevant sub-forum.

I have recently purchased a Lenovo G40-45 laptop with the following config:

APU Quad Core A8 (6410)
8 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB HDD
Win 8.1 x64
ATI EXO PRO R5 M330 (2Gb)

I installed the drivers which came with the laptop. For the display I downloaded and installed the latest AMD Catalyst drivers for the graphics (amd-catalyst-15.7-with-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit).

The drivers installed successfully but, after reboot, the screen went down to a low resolution and displayed the following error message: "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware."

It appears that the graphics card did not install at all, i cannot see it in the display settings or in the Catalyst Control Centre.

Display settings shows "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter":

Device manager shows the graphics card with a missing driver icon:

I have tried installing and uninstalling the Catalyst suite but the problem persists. Any ideas?

try to get the drivers directly off the manufacturer (lenovo) website.
some oem chips may not be compatible with regular driver revisions from amd/nvidia.
