Graphic Cards "AMD bugged new drivers killed my GPU and other's"

So, there is a bug with the new Crimson drivers that AMD released (not beta, final release) that lock your GPU fan speed and because of this, many users have reported playing for extended periods of time with their fans locked to 20%.
Others, like me, got their GPU burned, in my case it didn't even reboot the PC, it just crashed the screen graphics (orange bars) and I had to manually turn off the computer. When I opened the case the GPU was so hot I couldn't even remove it from the PCI-e and had to wait until it was cool enough.

I won't be so surprised if its true. Last few AMD drivers which I used gave me fps drop and crashed regularly.

Edit:
AMD apparently released a temporary fix.

Just checked afterburner, the fan seems to be working fine. Still out of precaution set my speed manually, don't want to risk it as my card is out of warranty. :bag:

yup that's the most scary part. A small driver update (with the potential to kill) killing a $200-$300 worth GPU. Feel sorry for the unlucky ones. I wouldn't want that to happen to me. Paranoid about RMA issues. >_>

On Amd cards, the VRMs will burn before the gpu. I remember seeing 95 degrees on my 7970 Ghz edition. I am guessing they are dying cos of burnt VRMs. Sad way to launch a new driver effort.

More threads have come up and more complaints have been reported. AMD is going to get a lot of flak for this and it WILL hurt their credibility. Sales nowadays are literally driven by online/social media community posts.

At this point I'm not sure where the exact problem lies but that driver was some poor R&D product right there.
