- Hi Guys,
I was also evaluating the Shield TV for this purpose , right now its a toss between the two. The HTPC can play Blu Rays in the future by attaching a BD-ROM , which the Shield cant.
- What is your budget?
- 15K is the sweet spot, CPU & SSD can be sourced from USA, rest all locally in Delhi.
- I have shortlisted the below options , please pour in your suggestions:
- CPU - 7th Gen Intel Pentium G4600 Kaby Lake ( read up somewhere that the Intel HD on this thing is pretty much the same as on the 4th Gen Intels? In that case, I can even get a 4th Gen Intel !)
- Motherboard - any compatible Micro-ATX motherboard , longer warranties preferred, needs to have HDMI, USB 3.0
- GPU - Integrated Intel should be enough for HEVC, BD-ISO, Rip playback through MPC-HC (MadVR)
- PSU - I am hoping that the low power requirement can be fulfilled by any decent non-phoren/local PSU/Case combo. Willing to spend around 3K under this head. Case should look like its a HTPC.
- RAM : Planning for 4Gb now in single channel , another 4Gb later if need be.
- I will use a Wireless Mouse to control the system.
- Blu Ray drive (future)
- Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
- Nehru Place , Open to online purchase
- Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
- Not really , maybe the CPU ..
- What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
- HTPC
- Watching Full HD movies
- Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
- Windows 10 64 bit ,
- I was temporarily using a HD 4400, 8 Gb , i3 4130 system to playback my media and it worked flawless, so I know that a similar specced system should run my HTPC just fine.
Aww come on people !
